But in this I blame first the audience of Chile, with every show now the only way to make it interesting for people to watch is to have some sort of celebrity on it. Every prime time show here it has a cast of B and C list of celebrities. And the rest of the day the peak of the hour is talkshows about this B and C list celebrities. The other thing that I blame is the lack of promotion, NOBODY care that Ferna&Fran made it to the last leg on season 1, the air channel NEVER talked about the show, it would just start out of nowhere. Nicolas&Cristobal won season 3 and all they got out of the press was a 1/4 of an article in a national newspaper. That's it.

Well, nobody knew that Tamara & Matías won the race here either, with the exception of a couple of little articles in a couple places and, of course, the TAR fans. And the only publicity I remember since TARLA began was a huge cartel on a corner in downtown Buenos Aires during the previous weeks before TARLA3 started.

--- Quote from: Vitoko on October 20, 2013, 04:58:55 PM ---I know a lot of people who saw The Amazing Race on AXN, me included and then they just stop airing it at some point and I personally lost track of it until Season 15 when youtube was starting to be a thing for me and somehow found it on it.

--- End quote ---

Same here, I watched TAR13 & 14 on YouTube and then I found a site who has posted all the seasons, and every week add the new episode with different uploaders. Until TAR19 was the only way I could see the race.

--- Quote from: Vitoko on October 20, 2013, 04:58:55 PM ---I wonder if the main problem of TARLA has to do in how teams are "representing" their country, and the amount of emphasis the editing show about how the argentinians, the colombians or whatever, instead of making it more about the history behind every racer, I don't what makes this cast race? I feel like I don't know them and maybe that is why I'm not interested in this cast at all. I don't care who wins. I want the people complaining to go home, but I'm not rooting for anyone in particular. Maybe Jessica&Michelle but only because they are a competent F/F team.

This is particular from TARLA. I'd have to recheck it, but I don't remember TAR Asia having this kind of edition based on nationalities and the confrontation between one each other based on this factor. TAR Asia worked very well on this aspect, I don't understand why can't do it TARLA.

--- Quote from: Vitoko on October 20, 2013, 04:16:06 PM ---I feel sad because...

I LOVE THE SHOW. I WANT IT TO BE AMAZING. I WANT IT TO BE AT THE SAME LEVEL AS ANY OF THE OTHER VERSIONS FROM CANADA OR USA.

But. Why not? Why is it so hard?

TARLA is cheap. A Latin American production company has nowhere near the same budget the bigger TARs have. Just look at the amount of tasks featuring the sponsors' products. They just don't have the money to compete with the other editions.

Another example, the final challenge of Season 1: it was to put together cardboard cutouts. Then look at the third Colombian leg this season, they just went to two parks and hung out and did pretty much irrelevant tasks like decoding flags and climbing a rock wall. They even had to have three legs in a row with no Detour.

If TARAus was a hodgepodge of tasks recycled from other editions, this one is more like a home-made version.

Dånooky:
Also, funny note:

A friend let me know that Beto (fron Juanjo y Beto, the "smaller" one) participated in the Mexican version of The Biggest Loser

When they were rowing at the Amazon river Juanjo complained that Beto took him on the show against his will. That makes me think that they were probably recruited.

Also, according to my friend, Beto looks like he got back all the weight that he lost.

Not likely, maybe he got preference but I don't see why he would be recruited just because BL Mexico.

That is sad, but I still think that there is more than just money issues.

Vitoko:
I forgot to add that Jessica from Jessica&Michelle is a TV host, which as I said before could've give her priority on the casting process.
