On the former assertion even though Jaymes and James made a late start for the FAST FORWARD Natalie and Nadiya were finished by the time Jaymes and James arrived at the start point at the cafe, so I count that as an Uncontested FAST FORWARD. See post #86 above.
I know of 18 teams spread across 16 episodes for all 21 past seasons in who "tried the FF and didn't win it." That is 35% of all Completed FAST FORWARDs, which to me is a lot of instances.
