They have no gloves on, but they do seem to have bandannas over their nioses so perhaps it smells bad? I was just coming to say looks like cotton to me too.
And no not a TAR Intersection, the STREET Intersection seen in cap 2. WHY are we seeing that place??

Rats in cotton bales goes back ... In a big way! :ascared
--- Quote ---The largest outbreak of bubonic plague occurred in England from 1665-1666. It killed up to 100,000 people.
The disease had been found in the Netherlands for some years before the Great Plague, and it is generally thought that it was carried from Holland on ships stocked with bales of cotton. It is thought that rats living inside the bales brought the disease. Strictly speaking, however, rats were not the immediate cause of the plague. Rather, the rodents acted as what is known as a 'vector'. This term describes an organism which does not actually carry a disease, but rather spreads infection by carrying bacterial causes of a disease.

DrRox:
Yep.......the plague was on the fleas that the rats were hosting. I dont really see what gloves have to do with it? Those gloves that James is wearing do not look like what I would expect to be locally produced. Does Abba have gloves on? I think that James just packed a pair of gloves into his backpack.
supah:
