SoYoung:
it could be better if :

Roadblock: Finding the carpet
Intersection:
Detour: Shoe Shine vs Dance

This would give a chance for the order to shuffle and the team That is MFE can catch up (however, not n this case since they are 4 hours behind.)

I wonder if it would be interesting to put a Yield during Intersection lol. So even the teammate of the yielded team will get yielded too. Lol :lol3:

It was better than some of the other tasks for cultural relevance purposes, but it was not difficult and had no skill involved, preventing any chance for teams to gain or lose significant periods of time.

Oh I disagree, I thought this was the best task of the episode. It was better than just walking through a room with them in it to receive the next clue.

It was the best task of the episode in my opinion too, but I didn't like most of the tasks. The Roadblock would've definitely worked a lot better and been a lot more enjoyable if it wasn't for the awful leg design! :groan:

Situation in which this leg could have worked, i.e. yield not wasted whatever.
#1 assume no teams quit in the previous leg but one team is still marked for elimination.
#2 let's say the last four teams all depart pretty close together.
#3 also assume that the MFE team is in a strong alliance with one of the other teams of our 4 and that alliance team is departing first of the four
#4 alliance team yields second last team, MFE moves into second last place
#5 if all teams move through the detour taking the same amount of time (they all choose the same detour or some bizarre coincidence) alliance team and the other team arrive at the intersection first.
#6 alliance team refuses to work with the other team, waits for MFE. the other team will have to wait for the yielded.
#7 MFE is now in third last place and can try to scramble their way through the rest of the leg

other possible scenarios include MFE lucking through the carpet detour in a very short time, another team struggling badly at either the detour or roadblock, hell even medical emergency.

that's the thing with this game, there are too many variables to really predict anything. The point of my seemingly pointless ranting? It is not right to say the leg design screwed Ross and Tarryn or whoever the MFE team turned out to be, Ross and Tarryn screwed Ross and Tarryn when they quit the roadblock. Their elimination reinforces for me the mentality that it is far better to take a break than to quit. Yes that roadblock was nightmarish and hellishly difficult (40,320 possible combinations, 0.0025% chance of guessing the answer) but even if Ross had taken an hour break and then returned to the task to try again and somehow got it (let's say he uses whatever his equivalent of aura spray is) he would have departed earlier than he would have after having quit.

I think a similar thing happened with season 19, teams only transited through germany (well i think there was one clue box, but is take a train really a task?) and the netherlands but i believe both were required to complete the final map roadblock.

The preview was confusing indeed. 'The biggest leg yet' - I wonder if they mean it's two episode leg maybe? i.e. keep on racing?
Otherwise the bits of Cuba make no sense to me because it would be a very brief stop over in Paris, indeed.

--- End quote ---
I would not underestimate the potential brevity of a destination, in the first season both ho chi minh and the netherlands both only hosted one challenge before teams moved on by plane or train.

My random question for this episode: how long do you think Lucy and Emiliownage were waiting for the cops at the intersection?

chill_sd:
I haven't seen this episode yet, but when I was reading Coutzy's commentary, I was hoping that Sticky and Sam would arrive at the intersection about the same time as Michelle and Jo.  Deciding to work together, they would leave Paul and Steve waiting for the fourth team.  That would have been epic.

Declive:
Ridiculous leg . No chances for Ross and Tarryn.
