The Amazing Race International Versions > TAR Australia
Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 9 announcement.
Coutzy:
Here we go!
Previously on The Amazing Race:
As teams hit the streets of Jaipur, a run in with Paul and Steve left Kym and Donna reeling.
Flatmates STicky and Sam made it 2 legs in a row
But hairdressers Sue and Teresa tripped up at the stairs challenge and finished last.
9 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?
Opening credits.
Coutzy:
Jaipur, the exotic capital of Rajistan is known as India's Pink City
Nahagit (sp?) Fort is the 3rd Pit STop
STicky and Sam depart at 1:37 PM
Fly to Dubai
Teams must now travel to Dehli then fly to the desert metropolis of Dubai, in the UAE.
Once in Dubai teams must search the airport carport for their next clue.
Before departing, teams must vote in the U-Turn.
Sticky and Sam U-Turn Paul and Steve, noting they are a strong team but they don't like them.
Ross and Tarryn depart at 1:39 PM and vote Paul and Steve as well.
Teams are hitting travel agents, consistent with the rule on the US edition about international flights.
Sam says that Sticky's arm won't effect them, but I smell foreshadowing.
Twins leave a 1:44 PM and choose to U-Turn (guess who) Paul and Steve.
Kym and Donna leave at 2:10 and vote the boofheads.
Paul and Steve depart at 2:12 and vote Sticky and Sam (At least their cries of "They're a strong team!" are founded in results)
The Cops depart and vote Paul and Steve.
Paul is arguing with taxi people and putting on his macho stance.
Kym and Donna overpay their cab.
GraJo votes Paul and Steve.
Sarah and James vote to U-Turn Lucy and Emilia, because that's the only team behind them.
The Sisters depart and vote the cops.
Notably, Sarah's "Rocks in your head" comment comes out, but it's directed at James, who wants to pay 400 for a cab, when the driver has offered 310.
Everyone is bunched on a train to Dehli, and getting taxis to the airport. 6 teams will arrive in Dubai at 6:10 AM.
Paul and Steve, Lucy and Emilia and Ross & Tarryn will connect through Mumbai and arrive at 8:15 AM.
Coutzy:
The 6:10 AM flight is on the ground.
GraJo is first to the clue.
DETOUR: Teams must drive 90 kilomiters to the Al Paca desert and choose between Dune Bash and Camel Dash.
In Camel Dash, teams must ride a camel around a short course and retrieve 4 flags.
In Dune Bash, teams must drive Dune Buggies through the desert around a 10 km course.
Teams are a little thrown by having to drive on the right hand side, but the dune buggies seems to be the consensus, although the cops choose the camels.
Grace speaks a little bit of Arabic, and uses it to get directions, and directions seem to be a very valuable commodity in the desert.
Joseph says he couldn't resist the temptation of driving the dune buggies, even if it meant possibly getting bogged.
Michelle and Jo arrive and choose the camels. They are getting some instruction, and their camel is up, and back down again. And up. And back down again. I hope they don't get seasick.
The girls stick at this for a moment and switch.
Grace nudges the gearstick with her thigh and puts their buggy in neutral and the stop causes them to sink into the sand, bogging them.
Coutzy:
Ad break over.
Joseph and Grace are collecting rocks and trying to put them under the wheels to gain traction. Or rather, Joe is while Grace lays down on the dunes to make a sand angel.
I hope Kym and Donna and Michelle and Jo, who have just left, run her over for her hubris.
Michelle and Jo aren't going to achieve that, they're bogged and having a good yell about it.
Grace tells Jo to stop showing off, because there's no hot girls around to show off to. Well, there's Grace, but that's his sister.
A Landrover hauls them out in time for Jo and Grace to finish the task first, with Kym and Donna right behind.
The cops are following someone to the detour and complaining about how fast he's going.
Teams must next head to the Wild Wadi Water Park (TAR 5?) and surf their way to the front to grab their next clue, but first they must check in at the U-Turn board.
Paul and Steve are U-Turned, courtesy of 6 teams.
The cops are having a pretty easy time of their camel. He's moving, but he doesn't seem too keen on turning.
Sticky and Sam have started their buggy, and the cheerleaders are still bogged.
The girls ask for help, and Sam offers a frank "Good luck" before getting bogged himself. I wouldn't have stopped, because they probably would have bogged too if they stopped.
James is driving too fast for Sarah's liking, so she pulls his goggles off.
Second plane is on the ground.
All three on the second flight go for Dune Bash, and Paul suspects they're tied for last.
The cops have decided they've had enough of their camel, and switch. Michelle and Jo have de-bogged and blown past Sticky and Sam to finish the task.
Grace is liking the boogie boards, and Joseph is falling off a lot, but he gets the clue.
Teams must now drive to a racecourse and pick a winning horse from today's racing. If teams fail to pick a winner, they must carry their teammate across the finish line.
Kym and Donna are having directional difficulty, and then their tire blows out and Donna gives us a good long bleep.
Ad break.
Coutzy:
We're back.
The cops are starting their buggy. They know they're going to have to really hurt the car to get it going, but they give it a good go.
Sticky and Sam get out of the sand, and then get bogged again.
James and Sarah are done with the buggy.
It turns out Kym clipped the curb and blew out their tyre, and they've revealed they had no money to buy a map. Tension is really starting to get the best of them.
Michelle and Jo find the screams from inside the water park a bit disturbing, but it can't have been that bad because Michelle (Or Jo) gets it on her first try.
Joseph decides he's going to take charge of the horseracing.
They've picked numbers 7 & 5 for race 1. Their horses come in 2nd and dead last, and Joseph worries that everyone will be there in time to catch Race 2.
The three on the back flight are at the Detour. Ross offends a few Christians with his cry of "Jesus Christ" as he goes around, and the sisters are taking their usual slow and steady approach, which gets them bogged quickly.
Sticky and Sam are back unbogged, and Sticky asks is he's allowed to drive. Turns out he is, and he gets it done with no trouble, the cops right behind them.
Sarah is at the water park, and at least this time it's appropriate to be wearing something small.
James and Kym both get the clue with ease, and head off to the races.
Michelle and Jo arrive, and feel underdressed for such an event because they aren't wearing fascinators or nice dresses.
Michelle and Jo are channeling the pink, which leads them to number 9. Both teams in race 2 have picked wrong.
Paul and Steve get nearly bogged, but push through to finish the task. Ross and Tarryn are making it through alright.
Paul and Steve have met their U-Turn. Paul is flattered that 6 of the 9 teams voted for them. (Keep going mate, I'm quite sure it'll happen again later.)
The sisters have bogged themselves again, and Paul and Steve are starting off the camels, with great difficulty.
Ad break.
