I saw some other pictures that made me very confident with the ID, but I am trying to avoid crossing some murky privacy line.

Shouldn't be murky.
Please don't take racers private photos. If you find stuff on a public site like a school pic, a published blog, a Flickr set, published media, then fair game. But don't use private pics without permission, and yes, I do consider their own FB's private. If they have a "Public Figure" FB, then that is fair game also.
