LA area STARTing Line Challenge!!

(1/3) > >>

georgiapeach:
Looks as though TPTB will never give up the ease and convenience of an LA area start.

I did quite like the Bridlewood Winery location in TAR 20. It also gave the teams the furthest self driving first leg we have had so far (right??)--just under three hours.

SO if we can now expect starts within 3 hours of LAX...let's find some other wonderful new spots!

Rules:

Scenic. Private. Epic ()

Must be within three hours driving time to LAX as per Google Maps driving directions.

Must be a NEW (not previously used) location.

Must be feasible...ie able to be rented/hired/closed as needed.

Brief description of the site and why it would make a good start line.

A picture and/or a map and a link to the site's website would be a wonderful addition!

And a special award if your pick is actually used for TAR 21!!  :wohoo:

I have a strong feeling TAR 21's starting line will be in the East Coast. Northeast to be exact.
Somewhere in the New England region, and they'll drive to Logan International Airport in Boston.

georgiapeach:
They already did that, lol.

I would like this thread to focus on locations near LA though, if anyone has any ideas??

Yeah, I know in TAR 17. I'm just hoping it would be other than LA this time.

If they ever listened to me and finally decided to start in Detroit, I have something interesting I found.

This is Meadowbrook Mansion, a beautiful Victorian Tudor style home with sprawling grounds. It has private entrances, and is completely closed off by some woods from the nearby Oakland University.

It is in the suburbs of Detroit, and is perfect for a starting line.

When looking up something for a future race of mine (planning), I noticed that on the calendar it says they are closed on Friday, June 8th for no apparent reason. They are usually only closed on Holidays. Maybe a wedding, and probably a long shot, but I think it's kind of worth looking into.

I have been there twice, and it's absolutely lovely.

P.S. Detroit has quite a few flghts to Europe and Asia, along with a unique direct flight to Amman, Jordan.
