I gained nothing about Italy from this episode. It just went from the best to the worst episode. :gaah:

My research to find a city in the U.S. at the far western edge of its time zone which might have a relatively late sunset basically failed. I tried a number of different alternatives but even Escanaba on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and El Paso failed to get any later than around 5pm on that date.
It helps to have a correct data point. El Paso is at the far eastern edge of its time zone. El Paso is in the Mountain Time Zone....not Central Time Zone. Just because El Paso is in Texas does not make it Central Time Zone. You can verify this by checking world clocks and test El Paso against Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Lubbock, Waco, Amarillo or Midland/Odessa. You will find a one hour difference between El Paso and the rest of those cities.
You are correct, Dr. Rox and I knew I had made a mistake about putting El Paso in the central time zone long before you corrected me. However, I wanted the time to check out sunset times for the western edge of China and India. Mumbai India had a 6pm sunset on 12/4/2011. However, the big winner is Urumqi China, which is due north of Kathmandu but in a time zone 2.25 hours earlier. That means its sunset was slightly before 730pm on Dec. 4 2011.
I also want to make it clear that all examples are Northern Hemisphere only. To use Southern Hemisphere during a quite long day for all of that hemisphere has no particular relevance for this comparison.

I think this was the best leg so far! :yess:
Do anybody knows if there a more fastforwards on this season??

Who was the greeter for the pit stop? I think it was a famous Italian F1 driver, but I can't recall his name.

I was trying to find an updated timeline (and I do appreciate that there has been a lot of information and I'm not implying that anyone has dropped the ball) but I was curious as to whether the Asuncion pit stop was short (less than 12 hours) or long (over 24 hours).
