TAR 20: Dave Brown Jr and Rachel Brown *Army Couple*

It was a "first" but nothing unfair about it. Lucky, yes.
Skip the Detour by using the Express Pass, perfectly fair.
Unable to do the RB>>take the penalty given>> still make it to the MAT ahead of other teams...perfectly fair, and yes, VERY lucky for them that they had that cushion of being on the first flight AND also have other teams struggle more than they did.
Mug Costanza:
There's no way they would've known this, but if they didn't use the Express Pass and stuck with their Detour, then had to deal with a 2-hour penalty at the Roadblock, there's a chance they may have been eliminated. (I say "may" because I don't know how long they would have take with the harp or what time Vanessa & Ralph and Elliot & Andrew checked in to the Pit Stop.) So although it sucks to have to use the Express Pass so early, it might have turned out to be what kept them in the race.
TAR Fanatic:
I'm getting vibes from Dave that nothing less than 1st is acceptable. As soon as Art/JJ finished the watermelon detour, that Express Pass was burning a hole in his pocket. Rachel talked him into trying the harp task first but he wouldn't even entertain it once he saw other teams there. If they had completed the harp task then they could have used the Express Pass to skip the bottle dancing when they only had 1 bottle left and not incurred a 2 hr penalty. At this point in the race, middle of the pack should have been acceptable to them.

I get that vibe from Art & JJ.
I personally think Dave is quite competitive, too, but not as ridiculously competitive as Art & JJ. :duno:
