That seems right, because they like the spring season to end on Mother's Day now and it would end on May 6th without that break.

I'm not sure if the latter is in reply to the former, but Mother's Day actually failed to sneak down to that middle part of May. May 8th seems early for Mom's Day, but it is still the second Sunday in May (the earliest Mother's Day can be).  However if CBS stays put with everything, emulating a 52-week formula, it would end on May 6 (even with the ACM pre-emption).  Sadly, what had TAR18 end on May 8 last year was a two-hour episode.  There's no big purpose for a 2-hour finale for a regular season, so Mom's Day for an AR finale seems like a better bet.

OTOH, maybe not, because I hardly doubt Mark Burnett would want two of his shows ending on the same Sunday (would be May 20 for Survivor, and Apprentice, as sweeps end May 23 and no one's putting a finale on the Sunday before Memorial Day).

Daylight savings time!  Yay!  Fortunately technology recognizes the change (unlike my VCR back in the day, pre DVR).  Now all we need is for something to recognize Hoops and Golf delays!

Three comments:
First, assuming the CMAs pre-empt TAR, and that 12 legs means 12 episodes, then the finale would be May 13th. The CMAs will be an the halfway mark (six legs) so I tend to think May 13th is more likely. Survivor has been on the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend, and it'll be close to or the last day of sweeps, and that finale has done well in the past.

Second, Canada also goes onto DST in lockstep with the U.S.

Third, next Sunday is selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament. CBS is airing this show which is done live. Some tournaments may not be totally completed It looks as if CBS may be airing the finals of the Big 10 tournament before the selection show, also live.

In other words, there's an off-chance of things running over because there is no local programming, apparently, for the CBS east coast feed -- there will be at least two conferences airing tournament championship games on CBS that afternoon.

Here's the deal on CBS:

Ohio State vs. Michigan State  has just  started on schedule.
If it does not go to overtime, the the NCAA Selection Show is on from 6 to 7pm and 60 Minutes from 7 to 8pm.

Mister RC:
Apskip, I pretty much forgot that OT could push everything back.  However, 5:09 local time + 4 minutes in regulation, and I think we're safe.  CBS would want to give the folks at home some type of "pregame" prior to the Selection Show, as opposed to just jumping into the 68-team announcement.

Theschnauzers very good points regarding TAR's end date.  Really, if you factor out a Survivor/Apprentice conflict, the only way TAR is ending on 5/6 is if it's a 2-hour finale (or there's a 2 hour show prior to that).  Otherwise, the Apprentice finale would have to end on May 13th opposite TAR, because while Survivor would be fitting during the Sunday before Memorial Day Weekend, I can't see Mark Burnett having two of his shows air against each other (on 5/20).  Another OOLF idea would be TAR ending right before Survivor on the same night.

Mister RC:
Game ends around the bottom of the hour; it's pretty much filler until 6:00; we're good!
