The NCAA tournament tends to have games over before Sunday evening of that weekend, although a runover is possible if a game goes to OT.

That seems right, because they like the spring season to end on Mother's Day now and it would end on May 6th without that break.

That is no longer necessarily the case, Survivor got stuck with it last time.
