Maybe the filming permit at Mosada had a hours of operation restriction, leading to Sam and Renee being directed elsewhere (possibly just outside) after arriving there.
Is there any chance that Dave and Kelly could have asked by production to stay put after San and Renee checked in?

They had the same greeter, and there was a body of water, but it was clear they were in a different place. I'm guessing it was also right near the Dead Sea and possibly where they'll have the Pit Start.

First one I've seen! Makes me wonder what happened though as Dave & Kelly mentioned they had a good map. Even if they did the same thing as Sam & Renae they wouldn't have been to far behind.
