Did you ever notice the BIGGEST SPELL in TAR? *Spoilers Contained*

If your team is the first in Lap 3, you'll definitely not get the $1 million in the end.
Of all the winners of Leg 3, only 5 of them have made the final three (and all 5 of them came second).
As for Andy & Tommy - there is no curse! In Lap 3 Laurence & Zac initially arrived 1st, but were issued a 15-minute penalty. So the curse was on Laurence & Zac. Now they are eliminated

But I wonder how the penalty affects the spell?
According to all these patterns Ernie and Cindy would be eliminated fourth, Andy and Tommy can't win and Bill and Cathi will win because they were second on leg 8.
