"Get to know NFL player Marcus Pollard from 'The Amazing Race 19'"
by Stacy Carey, Scottsdale TV Examiner
August 8, 2011
Fans are geared up for Season 19 of The Amazing Race on CBS, and it looks like it’s going to be a great cast. One of the racers for TAR 19 is Marcus Pollard, who is racing with his wife Amani. Kudos to the observant Reality Fan Forum poster Chateau d'If who was the first to uncover the Pollard couple's participation. Pollard is a former NFL football player, and Scottsdale fans of the show are anxious to learn a bit more about this NFL and TAR star.
Marcus played basketball at Bradley University, as the school did not have a football program at the time he attended.
Pollard was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 1995 as an undrafted free agent.
His best season was in 2001 where he had 47 receptions and 8 touchdowns, including one for 86 yards.
Marcus played for the Colts from 1995-2004.
He moved on to play for the Detroit Lions from 2005-2006.
He also played for the Seattle Seahawks (2007), New England Patriots (2008 Offseason/practice squad) and Atlanta Falcons (2008-2009).
His career stats indicate he has a total of 349 receptions for a total of 4,280 yards and 40 touchdowns.
After retiring, Pollard became a high school football offensive coordinator at Lanett High School in Alabama.
Marcus and his wife Amani have three children together: Myles, Micah and Aja.
The Pollard family is now in Atlanta, Georgia. Marcus is 39-years-old and Amani is 36.
