Well apparently, when production got word of how far behind the old couple were, he rushed off to film an extra segment in a shopping centre. Then he returned to check in the old couple and give them the good news!

Up close, the couple with the orange bandana looks African American (M) & biracial or latina (F).
The African American man in red looked big! Especially compared to the other male racers, they're quite small in general.
