Elisabeth Sladen, who played the iconic Sarah Jane Smith on Doctor Who (both the classic series and the new series) and on The Sarah Jane Adventures over a forty year period, has died from cancer.

BBC America has confirmed that it will air something to honor Elisabeth Sladen during the season premiere of Doctor Who that airs this Saturday (4/23).  It's not known if it will be the same tribute being aired in the UK on the BBC during the same episode, also on Saturday. Also no word so far whether Canada's Space Cnannel will air anything when it also airs the season premiere on Saturday.

Notice a trend here? Except for Australia which is ahead of the UK as to the time of day, the other English speaking countries are all airing Doctor Who on the same day this season.
