CBS in an effort to try and spice things up this season is promising many twists and surprises, an interview with the host of the show, Julie Chen, has been released on CBS’ official Big Brother homepage which discloses vague details about some of the changes.
“One bedroom that’s going to make the army cot we had in previous seasons, look comfortable,” Chen disclosed. Along with that comment she also stated that this will change the whole dynamic of the game and the new rules "…are probably going to hurt people who go in as a manipulative player and help those that go in with a pure and open heart."
Chen also revealed that the power of Veto has been altered, which was the twist which allowed the person who held the power to save a player up for eviction and nominate another player. Also revealed was a new twist that will make the “EX Factor” last season, look enjoyable. For those who may not remember the “ex factor” last season, Big Brother invited some houseguests ex-boyfriends/girlfriends into the house to play the game as well.
Critics are saying CBS is following suit after the British version of the show, in effort to add spark, decided to make the shower in the bathroom of the house clear. Cameras and other houseguests are now able to view everything. Reportedly in the United States due to the Janet Jackson out lash, even making the shower clear and blurring the images is deemed “to profane” for television.
The new season, set to debut July 6th at 8pm for a special 90-minute episode, will be mentioned on some upcoming television shows. The Early Show on CBS, of which Julie Chen is a news anchor, will air a tour of the new house with tour guides Nathan Lane and Erika Landin on June 30th, Access Hollywood will be given a tour of the new Big Brother House as well on July 1st (check local listings and times) as well as an interview with Julie Chen. On the same night, July 1st, Chen will be a guest on “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” (CBS 12:35-1:35am).
The doors are locked, the cameras are rolling, Big Brother 5 is hastily approaching.
