Couldn't this be Threave castle in Scotland?
Notice the small circular building in the back.
The first picture is from the intro and the second is of Threave castle.
Maybe someone more adept with google earth could make a comparison?

Looks like theschnauzers was right: for a few frames during the last episode you could see the sunset (sunrise?) cap, presented by the editors as Kunming, from a slightly different angle.
