Ruth:
I'm sad that Chris is not in because of his beautiful character and wonderful story. But at the same time, I'm glad that the judges did not put him in because of his story. I like it that they're doing it purely based on talent alone, and not sob stories or sympathy. I do not have the habit of watching Hollywood Rounds, so I'm still unsure of this year's talent. I can't wait to see the Top 24 perform! :D

Hi Ruth!!  :waves:

This is all I've found so far about Casey and it's not sounding good for him:

Casey Abrams -- who we know is one of the 24 finalists on "American Idol" -- is still in the hospital and could end up dropping out of the competition today ... TMZ has learned.

Casey Abrams Hospitalized Update

TMZ broke the story ... Casey was rushed to the hospital Wednesday, complaining of severe stomach pains.

We've learned he's still in the hospital and will receive a blood transfusion this morning.

For Casey to continue in the competition, he must participate in tonight's taping of the top 12 males.

Sources connected with the show say it's up to Casey to decide, but producers will let him rehearse with the band at 4:30 PM today if he's able ... and then tape the show.

It's so touch and go, we're told they're discussing the possibility of Casey going to the taping and then returning to the hospital.

Casey Abrams of American Idol Will Sing Despite Hospitalization

The show will go on for American Idol contestant Casey Abrams.

The singer, who made the top 24 on Thursday's show, was reportedly hospitalized after suffering severe stomach pains on Wednesday but is now out of the hospital and expected to hit the stage during Friday's taping of the top 12 men's performances, PEOPLE confirms.

"He is performing tonight," a source close to the show tells PEOPLE. "He had some stomach pains but he will perform."

The bar has been set high for Abrams, the first contestant in Idol history to perform with a upright bass, after he wowed the judges throughout the audition process.

"I don't think we've ever seen a musician as talented as yourself," Randy Jackson told him on Thursday's episode. "It's like three people in one."

Abrams, who auditioned in Austin, Texas, with Ray Charles's song, "I Don't Need No Doctor," became so excited he accidentally knocked his chair off the stage.

A rep for Fox had no comment.

The news of Abrams hospitalization was first reported by TMZ.
