RFF TAR 18 Pick-em Game
georgiapeach:
The shot def looks like K/J got there first, but without a currently in first place logo there is no way to say that R/C or even the Goths couldn't have gotten there first...right?
I think the vid more or less shows a whole group entering the hall together.
I can't even remember what I put,

We actually never see who gets to the clue box first. There is a mass rush up the stairs and into the room with the clue box. The next scene shows Kisha and Jen walking away with what looks like the clue envelope in their hand (but are we sure it is the clue envelope?) We also see the Globetrotters and the Cowboys along with Luke and Zev and Justin milling around. But we do not see Gary and Mallory, or Ron and Christina, or Kent and Vyxsin. So have they already gotten the clue? If you follow the same practice you did last week and in previous shows, the team seen opening the clue and reading it first are Flight Time and Big Easy before Phil appears and explains the clue is the team you have deemed to have received and read the clue first. To compound the matter, the start of the roadblock is presenting the mango and papaya along with the tea to the auctioneer. In this event the first to do so is the Cowboy, followed in order by Vyxsin, a Globetrotter, Kisha and Luke.
So who is on first?

On who starts the roadblock first (and damn this goes back to the awesome season 17, the best indicator (when no subtitles by production) is footage of racers who have decided to do the task. The episodes shows those racers (at least the first five) entire into the hall that they must grab the fruit and then drink an obscene amount of tea. That view ends before Ron, Flight Time, or Zev enter. But thinks to the completion order we know that Ron & Christina gained the most (no matter if they were the sixth to start or the last).
As for Kisha & Jen, the reason I didn't give the points to Margie & Luke the other day is because we never saw him with a clue (even though we all agree that he would have been first). With the new HD and a big screen you can see them with a clue. Now if I only had picked that option. I did pick Ron and Christina for the Roadblock based solely off of the stereo type that someone with asian heritage would better know teas.

While its possible that a team (not shown in that first shot), was the first there but since Kent & Vyxsin, Ron & Christina and Gary & Mallory all get passed by the teams we do see (on the last outdoor shot before teams enter) its very doubtful.
But with the footage given the best answer on this is Kisha & Jen.
gingerman28:
But in past games, you have awarded first to the team shown reading the clue before Phil enters to explain what the clue means. I agree we do see what seems to be Kisha and Jen obviously with the clue before a bunch of the others, but the Goths and Ron and Christina are not shown so they could very well have gotten the clue before the sisters. I think you have to be consistent and say it can't be determined who was first or give it to the Glovetrotters since they are the team seen first to read the roadblock clue.
Coutzy:
During season 17, it was decided that we couldn't make assumptions (It came up after the circus HoO, IIRC) without physically seeing a team take the clue out of the box, or being given a subtitle.
