0 points - 6 people answered this question - Gary & Mallory, THough Luke starts the RB first and actually gets to the cluebox first, locals block the view of him actually grabbing the clue.

Surely the sight of Luke standing in front of the cluebox is enough to assume he is taking the clue? What else is he going to do?

I would dearly love to take that answer (as its the one I picked and would also give me points on is this team the first to complete the RB, I would really love 20 more points).  But again through the history of the game have gone with what we are shown, even if that isn't what I honestly believe the answer is.

I will go through some older cycles and see if I ever do take that choice even if it isn't shown.

I picked Margie and Luke too, but i think we have to be fair as the answer is clearly Gary and Mallory as a full team and WITH A CLUE (Luke doesn't have the clue)... as i've explained. Either way if mswood change the answer to Margie and Luke, then i'll gain 10 more points.

Another valid point to bring out, you can't open your clue until your team mate is with you. Luke is the first person to the cluebox, but maybe he can't get the clue because Margie's not there yet. The next scene we see is Gary and Mallory claiming the clue as a full team.

I'm going to get as many nagging points as i can this episode. :lol3: :neener:

In fairness to Coutzy, I don't think even that is right.  As full teams appear to have a lead over both Gary and Mallory.  I think its just poor editing (notice we get very little in subtitles actually stating team order this week).  But when we see teams make the choice on who is doing the RB, I think that is actually the order.  But I can't take it accept for the order of starting the RB as deciding who is the first step in starting the RB.

And we have had the argument (I think most recently in season 15, but it also happened in season 14) that on these questions I just care for who has control over the clue.  Be it one racer or both.  It came up ion the finale leg in Vegas for 15 with Sam gaining control over the clue even though Meghan and Cheyne were clearly closer to the clue.  And with Luke and Jen I believe.

Hmmm, i'm not very sure about how you've seen it in past incidences like this. But Luke sure didn't have a clue in his hand when the shot of him was shown. Is that a better argument? I mean, he may not be able to retrieve a clue until Margie arrives?
