TAR 18 Scheduling-Airing Times-Delays

<< < (19/21) > >>

theschnauzers:
CBS has sent out an Eye-lert about the possibility of a runover due to the final round of the Masters.
I've read that there is a chance of rain both today and tomorrow, which could push back some of the players for the second and third rounds to complete their rounds to the following mornings; and that could also delay the end of the tournament.

apskip:
If the Masters ending is "normal" on Sunday, my experience has been that with the Butler Cabin baloney it takes until about 710pm unless there is a tie. Augusta is reasonably far west in the Eastern Time Zone and official sunset will be at 756pm Sunday.

Today, Saturday, the third round ended at 702pm and commentary followed.

Here are the rules for a sudden-death playoff: In the event of a tie, the players who are tied will tee off on the 18th hole in a sudden death format. If a player does not emerge as the winner on the 18th hole, the players will go back to the 10th hole for the next sudden-death hole. Players will then move between the 18th and 10th hole until one player is left as the champion.

Let's assume that there is an extended sudden-death playoff (this seldom happens) until 8pm, then 20 minutes of CBS baloney. That puts the start of 60 Minutes at 820pm if by bad fortune that did happen.

theschnauzers:
CBS is planning to air "60 Minutes" so a runover to 8pm would set everything back by an hour.

--- Quote ---A runover on Sunday, 4/10 of The Masters/Final Round could delay start times for 60 Minutes (7pm ET), Amazing Race (8pm ET), Undercover Boss (9pm ET) and CSI: Miami (10pm ET).
--- End quote ---

So we'll have to see what the situation is on Sunday; I'm not speculating beyond that.

Fortunately, there was no rain in Augusta, GA on Saturday and the forecast for Sunday doesn't mention any chance of rain or thunderstorms at all. Just mostly sunny, light winds and a high near 90 degrees (about 32C).

apskip:
Masters Update as last 2-some started hole 10:

The Good News: Play has been moving right along. It took McIlroy and Cabrera 127 minutes to play first 9 holes. That translates into a 655pm finish before Butler Cabin and other baloney.

The Bad News: 3 are tied at the top of the leader board, which increases the possibility of the sudden-death playoff.
