I wasn't surprised about Jet and Cord in Sydney, inasmuch as they had the same problem, more or less, on their first leg in TAR 16.
They do know how to make up time fast, though.

I might be able to shed some light on that. In today/yesterdays flights from Melbourne to the USA, I had to connect to LAX with a plane change in Sydney, depsite the same flight number for both the Melb-Syd and Syd-LAX
The same thing is also happening on my return trip. I suspect that all flights from the USA to Australia go through either New Zealand (esp. Air NZ) or Sydney. Sydney is also the largest airport of the three majors on the eastern seaboard, which is probably a key factor.

Qantas made a big announcement here in Dallas last week. Starting in May, they are dropping the route to San Francisco and coming to DFW instead Non-stop from Sydney. Using 747s.

Maybe they confused Australian and Austrian money.... and couldn't pay their taxi this time...
