I agree that Nick & Vicki make the mistake but perhaps Brooke & Claire and Michael & Kevin are the other teams that make the critical mistake and Nat & Kat merely catch up to them and point out the right way.

There are obviously multiple different things that could happen in this case. It will be really hard to determine which idea is correct from the info we have.

Is it possible that misreading the clue could be forgetting to bring something with them to the pitstop therefore forcing them to either take a penalty or go back and get it?
