The Biggest Loser 10

So for those who watched it: They doing this in couples?
I admit, I watched the first elimination episode of Dancing With the Stars. I did have NBC on and was going to flip, but forgot. Wikipedia has them paired up, for the most part, with a few without teams.

You probably made the right choice watching Dancing With The Stars. It was probably the worst season opener I've seen for The Biggest Loser. The entire 2 hours consisted of visits to 7 cities and at each one three contestants were subjected to an elimination. They either had to run a mile or do 500 step ups. It varied from city to city. The one that finished last was told he or she was out. Naturally, the ones who needed it worst generally finished last. Stuff like this really turns me off, since it's unnecessarily cruel. At least 2 people collapsed and had to be treated (carried away in an ambulance in one case). Sooner or later they are going to kill someone. At the end of the show, the previews showed Bob telling one of the eliminated contestants to be ready just in case because it's The Biggest Loser and anything can happen. Then followed a shot of 2 shadowy unidentifiable people (one man and one woman) apparently returning. Next week they start at the ranch. They played up a weigh in during the first hour with half of the people being below the yellow line and a workout with a squad of Army (?) drill sergeants. It was a very long preview, perhaps 3 or 4 minutes and it had a feel that it may have been covering the first few episodes, rather than just next week's episode.
They really laid on the sob stories pretty thick. It seemed like everyone had some kind of personal tragedy they were dealing with. Dead brothers, sisters, parents and children. One dead brother was apparently days away from being on an earlier season of The Biggest Loser when he died in his sleep. Parental abuse. Physical abuse from an ex-husband. One woman had been through chemotherapy for breast cancer last year. I expect that to be a continuing theme this season. Just like usual, but even more so this time.
It appears that there will be couples this season (a purple team, a red team, a blue team, a pink team, etc.) but they will be complete strangers as they start out, if that make a difference. However, until they get to the ranch, it's not 100% clear that will be the case.
One thing kind of bothered me. My wife and I thought about going but didn't go to a Biggest Loser event in Portland last spring, maybe in April. We thought it was some kind of audition screening for future seasons. Now it appears that it was the elimination event for the Purple team. We could have been on TV. :ascared Anyway, I'm not sure of the production schedule for The Biggest Loser, but I wouldn't have figured it for 5 months ahead of the airing date (now). The bigger issue to me is the schedule for the 7 elimination events. Bob and Jillian need travel time to get to the various sites, so the events must have taken place over at least 4 or 5 days, perhaps as long as a week. They held weigh ins at the events and presumably that is what the contestants will be compared to at the first weigh in at the Ranch. The ones at the earliest events will get several more days to lose weight than the last one to go through the elimination events. It seems like an unfair advantage to me.
I pity anybody that tried to waterload for the weigh in and discovered they had to run a mile.

I too was like what is up with BL ???
it was hard to watch and get into it. and that's never happened.. usually they give us a small portion of the backgrounds.. but it seems to have been the bulk of the show.
im majorly disappointed.. i will try and watch it next week and see if it grabs me. if not.. then the :wise hour glass seems to have ran out for BL..
I loved jillian in the past but i think she's gone too commercialized now and cant give us all what we are use to..
i have no favorites as of yet becuase i FF thru the sob stories.. i have enough of my own! i just wanted to see them compete!

If it is the case, I probably won't watch until they get to singles/normal teams. I am sick of this "couples" format, as previously mentioned in this thread. They did couples with strangers and it didn't help pull me back in. Like I said before, when a couple is in danger of going home, one of them does and the other one is hindered. Simple as that.

OMG i hate BL trying to change things up with 8 peeps under the yellow line and then have to RUN? (:;)
WTheck :ugot they know these folks are out of shape! and then do sprints to reach a single flag.. :groan:
of course the guys who are bigger and just a metobolic fact will lose more weight in a week than most women! and yeah i hated that all were women in the comp.
i dont think that was a fair situation that BL set up at all.
if that 's how they are gonna be i would have sprinted just once.. seen where my competition is and then possibly held out till more than 3 of them tired and then i would have gone full out for that flag.. pushing and elbowing :flipper all the way! thus PLAYING the GAME! :snicker:
I hope they rethunk that idea for next season if they do get signed for another season!
