Why were Mel & Bonnie losing so many placings between tasks? The editing for this episode confused me a lot.

I think they got ahead before some of the others bald snarked the rock task.. And then they were just a little slower.

Allan Wu has posted a link to episode 3 on Twitter....to the CCTV site.
Bonnie and Mel caught the "fast train." It left later, but arrived earlier. Thats how they got the lead and then it took them a while to get the clue at the "drinking" roadblock and got passed by several teams there. But you are right, they were generally slower in their tasks.
