FML stands for "f**k my life" which is a site where people anonymously post bad or embarrassing things that happened to them

example:

--- Quote ---Today, I was telling my teenage daughter about the effects from alcohol, and how she should not give in to peer pressure. While talking, I noticed that she was looking at me funny. There was a wine glass in my hand. FML

MLIA stands for "My Life Is Average" it follows the same concept as FML, only the moments shared are out of the ordinary but average as well

Example:
