TAR 15 Timelines

Chateau d If:
# days in race Location (start) timezone shift in hours to get GMT # Teams (start) Day of Week

Neobie:
One observation about the use of >36h Pit Stops in TAR 14: they're less frequently invoked than in earlier seasons, and have only been used on complicated long-haul travel:
Bran to Krasnoyarsk, via Bucharest and Moscow
Novosibirsk to Jaipur, via Moscow and Delhi

Assuming the hotel sighting was in Dubai, teams checked in on the morning of the 27th and only checked out two days later, on the morning of the 29th. This means Phil was unable to get a flight out on the 27th to film his next stand-ups, on the 28th. Instead, he's probably doing his narrations on the 29th, while the teams find a way to fly in.

(Why the hotel is likely to be in Dubai: a Dubai leg on the 27th and an extra leg on the 28th means Phil wouldn't have a full day to film his stand-ups - and there really isn't much space for an quick leg near Dubai.)

Flights on the 27th going to Paris (1500-2010), Heathrow (1545-2015), Munich (1630-2100) and Moscow (1740-2055) means you can get to practically any point in Europe before noon the next day. Africa next?

African cities unlikely to host next leg:
Nairobi, Cairo, Asmara, Addis Ababa, Johannesburg (direct from Dubai)
Luanda (via Paris); Abuja, Lagos (via London)

Neobie:
If Dubai comes immediately before the Netherlands as per Dutch Samadhi, I'll stick my neck out and say that there are probably two legs in the UAE.

Teams should be checking into Dubai on the morning of the 27th. That frees Phil to run off to the Netherlands either on the Dubai-Amsterdam direct (5Y 9989, 1420-1920), or a later Dubai-Munich-Amsterdam connection (EK 51, 1630-2100; CL 4690, 0645-0815). Either will get Phil into the Netherlands by the morning of the 28th.

Why then hold the teams until the morning of the 29th? They'd arrive in the late afternoon, and start racing proper on the 30th. Would Phil need two whole days to film his stand-ups?

Unless they just all wanted an extra day off, here's what the evidence suggests...
26 Jul: Teams arrive in Dubai at night
27 Jul: Teams race UAE I, check in morning
28 Jul: Teams race UAE II, check in morning; Phil flies to Netherlands in afternoon
29 Jul: Phil films stand-ups; teams fly to Netherlands and arrive in late afternoon
30 Jul: Teams race Netherlands, check in morning

And here's an educated guess based on timeline clues...
Leg 1: Los Angeles to Japan I (20 Jul)
Leg 2: Japan II (21 Jul)
Leg 3: Ho Chi Minh City (23 Jul)
Leg 4: Phnom Penh (25 Jul)
Leg 5: UAE I (27 Jul)
Leg 6: UAE II (28 Jul)
Leg 7: Netherlands (30 Jul)

Israel is looking more and more like something other than OUR race. The only way I can see it still fitting is if there is a flight that can get teams into Amsterdam very early in the AM of 7/30, or... we have an abbreviated pitstop in Israel (more of the 8 hour variety), allowing teams to leave the evening of 7/29. Thoughts?
