Episode 3 open discussion & updates/ commentary

Ruth:
Mel and Mike - Great job done! I was very happy to see them clinch first place. They work really well together and I'm liking them quite a lot now, I hope they stick around. And I just love it that for these three episodes, we've had three different teams coming in first! That is why I just LOVE TAR 14!

Amanda and Kris - Well thankfully the loss of their fanny pack did not jeopardise their chances. They could have been first, but at least they weren't eliminated, and second place is awesome. I just love how they're so nice to each other, no argument even with the misplacement of their fanny pack. And thank God they found it. =)

Kisha and Jen - Nicely done! Other than their bickerings, I think they're a pretty nice team. But seeing that this season's teams are so likeable, they're one of the two teams I kinda don't mind seeing eliminated soon hee... But still, great job this episode, they soared ahead from nowhere!

Margie and Luke - Still working fantastic together, I simply love this team. Margie was awesome at the Roadblock! They're indeed a strong team, having stayed so consistent since the first episode. Margie and Luke for another win!

Mark and Michael - I wish they'd lost to Christie and Jodie in the footrace but well... This is another team I wouldn't mind seeing eliminated soon. They're alright, but yeah, the team I like the least out of the eight teams remaining.

Christie and Jodie - Yay, they're finally not second to last! I still feel amused sometimes when I see them dragging their suitcases everywhere. Doesn't that slow them down? It's amusing to watch though, and I still love this team. =)

Cara and Jaime - Bad luck with the cab there, but I like how they're still nice to each other and the other teams. I'm hoping they'll get out of the "backpacker zone" soon. Win a leg or something!

Tammy and Victor - I must say, this must be a shocking moment, them getting eighth place. A strong, competitive team, coming in second and first for the first two legs, falling to eighth place! They're indeed lucky that Brad and Victoria missed their flight, otherwise they'd have been toast. Still love this team, I love how Victor admited his mistakes and actually cried cos he felt bad. I believe that after this race, they'll love each other even more deeply. They remind me of Ronald and Christina totally, and I'd love for them to go far!

Brad and Victoria - The team I liked the least out of the nine teams, so I was happy that they were eliminated. I admire their perserverance though!

LOVE TAR 14!!!!!!!!

Tammy/Vic, CLUE, 10:13 am. Make your way to Bucharest, Romania.
Phil: Travel to Munich, land in Bucharest. Take a taxi to the place where Nadia Comaneci trained for gymnastics.
Vic is barking at her already, with a multi-hour lead. WTF!?
Describing flight times, travel agency woman: It's half past three. Then quarter to five ...
They'll train to Munich.

Mel/Mike, 12:01 pm.
(1 hour 48 minute lead for T/V)
Amanda/Kris, 12:12
Margie/Luke, 12:30. Luke signs something about wanting to be able to communicate with the other teams and know what they're talking about.
Mom thought Bucharest was Hungary. Kellie Pickler much?

Tammy/Vic, airport in Munchen get the 3:20 flight.

Brad/Victoria, CLUE, 12:53 pm.
Brad was a drug addict and alcoholic. Now he's just a R O B O T
Jaime/Cara, 1:17 or summat.

Mel/Mike get on a train. As do Margie/Luke, Brad/Victoria
Amanda/Kris find a nice man on the train to help them get 4:45 flight reservations, but what a tight connection - 20 minutes from the train station to the gate. Ummm ... I thought you needed 30 minutes for int'l flights??

Flight departure times compared to airport arrival can vary a great deal from airport to airport. 30 minutes is the minimum I have ever seen. Much of the time the airline personnel at checkin prevent you from proceeding by not giving you the necessary papers if you are less than the minimum, but sometimes asking very nicely or sometimes very assertively can get them to let you try. There are numerous examples from earlier Amazing Races.

Check their mat chat in the Insider footage.  He's sobbing quite a bit in it.

Hooky:
I didn't like this episode very much. The editing is starting to bother me with it's extremely high amount of footage for Margie & Luke, Tammy & Victor, and Mel & Mike. Tone it down, CBS editors! We've got Christie & Jodi, Mark & Michael, Amanda & Kris, and Jaime & Cara as practically INVISABLE teams! I was also very annoyed by the freaky "previously" segment that only featured the teams that are already overfeatured. I really want more of these invisible teams now, before it's too late! (:;) :knuckles:

Okay, now to the teams:

Mel & Mike: Very interesting to see them come in first, but I wanted Amanda & Kris to. It's really unusual for a team like this to be doing so well, and I kind of enjoy seeing the weak beat the strong. But the team I like more is...

Amanda & Kris: They are impressing me with how well they are getting along. I was hoping when they finished just about everything in first that they would win the leg. Oh well. Second is amazing too, I guess. I'm just glad Tammy & Victor weren't up here!

LaKisha & Jennifer: They got along better this time, but to me they just feel sort of empty. Like they don't have any real story to them. I want more footage of them so I can get to know them better.

Margie & Luke: We still got too much of them this time, but thankfully not as much as the first and second episodes. The Tammy & Victor fiasco prevented that, which was both good and bad. I like them, but I want to see the other teams, too.

Mark & Michael: Practically none of them this week. They were just sort of there, but I was surprised when they came up and passed Christie & Jodi. I don't know why.

Christie & Jodi: I didn't see much of them this week, either (sound like a broken record, yet?). Not much else to say but I'm happy they are in a different (and better) placing now. I still don't know whether I like them or not. Not enough footage to decide.

Jaime & Cara: Ditto the above, though they got more footage this time. They seem very competitive, and that makes me happy!

Tammy & Victor: I couldn't believe how awfully they did this time! It was amazing, because I find them annoying. I just kind of wish they had gone home instead of Brad & Victoria. This was one of the rare instances where it seemed like one team member was actually trying to sabotage their teams' chances. It reminded me of Rob & Amber when they were eliminated in All-Stars...like they were trying to get eliminated. Call me weird for saying that, but that's what it looked like, and I was surprised to see that from them.

Brad & Victoria: They were truly amazing racers who actually had a great chance of winning, and being one of my favorites, I was very unhappy to see them go, but it was a foregone conclusion 15 minutes into the episode. It made me leave the episode with a really bad taste in my mouth (especially after the bad editing), because we didn't get enough footage of them, either. At the mat, the second-to-last place team got more airtime than they did. It shouldn't ever be like that.

So yeah, overall, the tasks were excellent and would-be entertaining for me, but the terrible editing imbalance prevented me from enjoying this episode. Hoping for better next week. :jam:

You do understand that this race was completed on Nov.22 and the editing was completed before the beginning of the telecasts of AR14. Wishing that the coverage of specific teams were different is fruitless.
