Erm, guys - письмо (pismo) means 'letter' as in mail, not 'letter' as in ABC, right?
Should the correct word be буква (bukva) instead?
I'm doubting the professionalism of their translators (currently as accurate as BabelFish)...

And what was the point? ??? No racer would have been able to read it (much less decipher it), and the US/Russian PAs would have referred to the signs using their own terms.
