TAR Finale Live show Updates and open Discussion

<< < (14/15) > >>

apskip:
O sages at TARCON XIII, could you please add one late question to the list for the Final 3:

Did the 4 clue received on release from the final Moscow pitstop specify going to Domosdedovo airport? If not, then how did you know to go there and not Sheremetyevo airport?

walkingguide:
Dandrew was completely done in by the cab driver.  I don't know HOW a cabbie would end up going to Newberg via Hwy 219/Scholls - unless the doofus took Hwy 26 to Hillsboro and then south.  DEFINITELY the long way around!  I often took 219 from Tualatin/Sherwood to Hillsboro to avoid Hwy 26, and once we got routed off of 219 due to flooding on the way home from Thanksgiving dinner at mom's, and ended up a very-back-way to Newberg on Bell Rd, just as Dandrew did.)

I didn't know Tilikum Camp, but we were just wine tasting last weekend a mile or so from there at a new winery.  In the cabbie's defense (for only going 40 when Dandrew shouted to go faster), the speed limit through Newberg is only about 35 mph, and the highway between Lafayette and Newberg is a notorious speed trap.  Both my husband and myself have been stopped along there for speeding (and luckily we both got only warnings).

I really didn't think anybody would have to stress over a cabbie knowing "The Portland Building."  Interesting that they didn't show Portlandia, probably due to the copyright the artist has on showing the statue.

I am very impressed with how helpful and nice Portlanders came across.  For both couples to instantly find somebody who knew "the magic is in the hole" meant Voodoo Donuts is great.  My husband and I had Voodoo Donuts as a checkpoint on our Urban Challenge race 3-4 years ago.

Luckily, Voodoo Donuts is very close to a hotel with a taxi stand, which really helped!

I'm really happy the sibs won, but I wish the best to Ken and Tina as well.

--- Quote from: apskip on December 07, 2008, 08:48:40 PM ---It is crystal clear that this was a 7 hour pitstop, a record low for any Amazing Race that I can think of. How do I know this? Because Chateau and I agreed on a time around 4pm for Nick/Starr and I heard it was about 3.5 hours later that Andrew/Dan checked into the leg 10 pitstop. So I am now chaging my estimate of Nick/Starr checkin time to 356pm. What you add the 7 hours, you get 10:56pm for the release time. Working backward, 228am release time for Andrew/Dan equates to 728pm checkin time and the surprising additional hour for Ken/Tina has 330am release equate to 830pm checkin time.

LAst year had several irregular pit Stops, the shortest one for that season I believe was episode #6.  I believe its Pit Stop was between 4 to 6 hours.

puddin:
I think peach told us it was an 8 hour pitstop but I'll let her fill in the blank (s) ;)

TARAsia Fan:
Ok, back in RI from TARCon. Peach can fill in some blanks. But Tina told us of one scene in the finale that wasn't shown.

We do not have an official time diff from Nick & Starr or Ken & Tina as of yet.

We do know of the Russian package teams were supposed to give the Russian food vendor that they were supposed to bring from Moscow, but again, was not shown.

There's also other stuff we can tell you, but we save for later. I need sleep.
