Tom Bergeron is best known for his witty banter as the host of "Dancing with the Stars" and "America's Funniest Home Videos." Now, he puts his words to paper -- and only ET is there for Tom's first book party.
I'm Hosting as Fast as I Can, in stores on Tuesday, April 7, offers a series of humorous and inspirational essays on surviving Hollywood, including behind-the-camera stories with A-list celebrities.
"I write about a number of times when I was fired, canceled, downsized, laid off, didn't know where the next job was coming from," Tom tells ET. The subtitle Zen and the Art of Staying Sane in Hollywood, speaks to how I dealt with those times. If there's anything in this book if because of how I share my experience it resonates with anyone who's going through some hard times now, then that's something I'd be very pleased with."
Tom, who appears calm, cool and collected in front of the camera, reveals the journey -- often humorous -- it took to get himself to this place. In his book, he relates funny stories about earlier jobs in his career, including stories about doing an episode of "Star Trek," ruffling feathers at "Miss America," and a bungling incident -- live on air -- at the Massachusetts state lottery drawing. He also talks about his zany years on the set of "Hollywood Squares," his friendship with Whoopi Goldberg, and his surprising Emmy win.

Karina Smirnoff: Steve Wozniak's "Definitely Going to Be in My Wedding"
Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff may have been booted off Tuesday's Dancing With the Stars, but their days together are hardly over.
"He definitely is going to be in my wedding," Smirnoff -- who is engaged to Maksim Chmerkovskiy-- told Usmagazine.com after the show.
Will he be on a Segway, perhaps? (Wozniak made Smirnoff ride the two-wheeled, stand-up scooter on a recent show).
"Possibly, but I won't be on a Segway!" she told Us. "I think I've Segway-ed my way out of this! But yeah, I definitely want him in the wedding."
She said she wasn't surprised when they were sent home. On Monday's show, they received the lowest score, a 12 out of 30, for their Argentine tango. The week before, they earned a 10 for their samba but managed to stay on the show thanks to viewer votes.
"I think Steve had a little more in him, as far as entertainment value, and could really please people at home," Smirnoff told Us. "We did much more than anyone even on the show expected from us."
Out of all the celebs, Wozniak was a challenge, she said.
"You can't compare Steve to Shawn Johnson," Smirnoff told Us. "Dance-wise, I had a little bit more work. But then personality-wise, I think he is top notch."
Even though she's been voted off, she says she'll be back on DWTS next week.
"We are dancing to 'At Last,' and Etta James is singing!" Smirnoff told Us. "She's a legend! You don't get many chances in life for something like that!"
Who will be Smirnoff's dancing partner?
"Maksim, of course!" she told Us. "There's a slight meaning to 'At Last' - we're together at last!"

Melissa Rycroft Sets Record Straight On Rumored Playboy Offer
Melissa Rycroft wears some very revealing outfits on “Dancing With the Stars.” But is the reality beauty ready to bare all for Playboy?
According to a report by Star magazine, Playboy boss Hugh Hefner extended a $500,000 offer to Melissa to appear in the men’s magazine. The report even went on to say that Hef penned a personal letter to the brunette.
Following Monday night’s show, Access Hollywood caught up with Melissa to ask her to set the record straight.
“Is that true?” Access’ Tony Potts asked Melissa on the “Dancing” set.
“I don’t know where that started,” she scoffed.
“That’s for me! Hugh Hefner wants me as the centerfold,” her “Dancing” partner Tony Dovolani joked.
“No, no,” Melissa laughed.

‘Dancing’s’ Gilles Marini Spills His Bedroom Secrets
Gilles Marini went from wooing Samantha Jones in “Sex and The City” to quickening the pulses of millions – including judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba – on “Dancing With the Stars.” But there’s only one woman for this hunky new star of the ballroom – his wife, Carole.
“We [have had] a very good relationship for 11 years,” Frenchman Gilles told Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show.” “I think the secret is to really keep it alive in the level of communication and I guess a lot of sex.”
While Gilles steams up the ballroom with partner Cheryl Burke – to the tune of the first perfect score of the season on Monday night – he steams up the bedroom at home with Carole.
“If we don’t do it, something is wrong. We just keep practicing,” he laughed.
But Gilles made sure to clarify to Billy he is not sex mad.
“It’s more like, how do I say it, um… it’s not like, ‘I want to do this!’ It’s like both of us are really happy to go home at night and have fun, you know?” he said.
While Gilles keeps the saucy details of his sex life private, he is gearing up to show more skin on “Dancing.” And, the actor said, he is in top physical condition thanks to the show.
“Because of dancing, I’m in the best shape of my life right now, because of all the cardio we go through and the moves,” he said. “I [have] got muscle where I didn’t have muscle before. It’s exciting because — I can’t say it too much — but next week is the best week I will have on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ Next week is going to be so entertaining, and you’re going to see a lot of me.”
