--- Quote from: Neobie on February 19, 2009, 12:37:59 AM ---Ack, forget what I said about teams on the same flight into Munich. Now we know Amanda/Kris took a taxi from Stechelberg "to the airport". If teams head to Bern Airport, they'd be on the same LH3655, flying from 6.45am to 7.50am.

However, if teams are instructed to take the long haul to Zurich Airport (197km by taxi, translating to say 2h 10min), teams could potentially split onto two, even three flights:
LH5063 to 7.10am to 8.15am
LH3739 to 8.45am to 9.45am
LH3741 to 9.30am to 10.30am

On Novosibirsk to Jaipur:

Worked out possible flights from Russia to India, and teams left Novosibirsk after Tue 11 Nov 10.55am, but before Wed 12 Nov 1.20pm. Any earlier and they'd get into Jaipur a full two days ahead of their Pit Stop, any later and they won't make the flight into Bangkok two days later.

The flight connections, which we'd concern ourselves with when we can narrow the timings down a leetle bit more, include crazy itineraries such as (and these are actually the fastest flights at certain times of the week!):
Novosibirsk > Urumqi > Shanghai (change airport) > Hong Kong > Delhi
Novosibirsk > Moscow > Bangkok > Delhi
Novosibirsk > Frankfurt (change airport) > Mumbai > Delhi
Novosibirsk > Moscow > Dubai > Mumbai > Jaipur

PS Is Apskip on sabbatical? Missing you already!

Apskip is back and has some things to supplement your analyses. First, the episode clearly states that teams got either the 710am flight or the 845am flight to Munich. That can only be from Zurich, so the hypothesis of flying from Bern is out the window.

My analysis of Novosibirsk to Delhi does not find any wealth of alternatives like you do. There is only one way to do this the best:

SU810 Novosibirsk (OVB)  -  Moscow (SVO) 0700 0815,
KC872 Moscow (SVO)  -  Almaty (ALA) 0920 1645,
KC907 Almaty (ALA)  -  Delhi (DEL) 1805 2115
then connecting to Jaipur India (5 alternatives offerred in Timeline above)

Forget Siberia apskip, SAVE BRAD AND VICTORIA!!!!

(Who knew the Timetables thread could do that?)

Brad and Victoria are in deep doo-doo.

...

This is what they were hoping for:
KL1798 from Munich to Amsterdam: 5.30pm to 7.15pm
KL1361 from Amsterdam to Bucharest: 8.20pm to 12.10am
This combination would get them in 15min ahead of the Bucharest sightings.

(Why we're sure it's KL1798: The next earliest Salzburg-Amsterdam-Bucharest combination requires teams to depart Munich at 9.25am. There's a direct from Munich to Bucharest at 1.20pm that arrives before this combination.)

The problem? KL1798 left 36min late and landed at 8.06pm. The next direct flight to Bucharest is KL1389, leaving at 9.50am and arriving at 1.35pm, 13 hours after the (originally) trailing teams.

Trying to find alternatives now. Frankfurt and Vienna don't look too promising.

--- End quote ---

Huh?. I am not following your logic here. The last possible flight from Salzburg to Bucharest via Vienna is:
OS924 1825 1920 SZG VIE
RO344 1955 2235 VIE OTP

Teams also have this alternative connecting in Franfurt:
OS269 1830 1950 SZG FRA
LH3416 2050  0010+1 FRA OTP

Now, Neobie, please tell me why any team would be foolish enough to consider going through Amsterdam which has an inferior schedule and tight connection? No flights through Amsterdam even appear on my flight information database, although you and I certainly have known about the flights through Amsterdam for a long time.

I don't see it. How do you know that they sent to Amsterdam? Would you do so if you were faced with the same alternatives that they had

georgiapeach:
We have video of them in Amsterdam apskip, there is a promo.

Neobie matched the airport.

Peach,
I consider Brad and Victoria along with Margie and Luke to be the most overchieving teams (I expected great things from Tammy and Victor).

I don't know if I have satisfied your mandate to "Save Brad and Victoria". If they did fly to Amsterdam and they arrived late, their goose is cooked unless KLM eelcts to hold the last flight for all connections (this does happen some of the time) or there is an Hours of Operation in Romania. we already know that leading teams catch an early morning train to Brasov and the possiblity of a late morning Hours of Operation in Brasov is pretty low.
