TexasLady:
It is much more understandable that he wasn't at his best now that we know his heart and thoughts were with his son and wife. I hope the best for his son and the family.

Hell’s Kitchen: Chef J On Discovering Heart-wrenching News About His Son Before The Show

Chef J was Gordon Ramsay’s latest casualty on last night’s Hell’s Kitchen. But surprisingly, the Chef’s temper and the staggering cooking tasks were the least of J’s worries as he stood on the chopping block.

The New Jersey resident who flubbed up his kitchen duties was also dealing with a very difficult situation back home - his son Sklyer had been diagnosed with autism two weeks before he traveled to LA to be on the show.

“I was battling some serious demons,” he told Fancast about his weeks on the show. “There was a lot of stuff I was dealing with mentally. Gordon Ramsay definitely sensed something was wrong but I never told him.”

The time he spent on Hell’s Kitchen was consumed with trying to learn as much as possible about the developmental disorder, and through it all, he did not want to worry his fellow contestants by telling them the news. “No, I didn’t let anybody know,” he said, explaining that he didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for him. “I was there to do my best. A lot of people played that game before. Life is what it is and timing is the most critical thing.”

Chef J, who said that the diagnosis was “life changing stuff” still has a positive outlook on life. “I go on with life and accept that’s the way it is. But I had some difficulty. I kept making little mistakes.” He added that his top priority is taking care of his son and also giving back to the community by raising awareness of autism through his various projects, all of which you can check out and support on his website, Jcooks.com.

TARAsia Fan:
Thank goodness for Hulu. I've watched the entire episode and man, Lacey whined so much. She can't take criticism, she can't take suggestions, she can't seem to cook period. I hope Chef does the same thing with her next week that he did with J this week.

Gio FTW!!!!!
