Diamond plaza looks like Arabic script to me? Note that the two diamonds are of different sizes - it doesn't look like a geometric pattern.

Seems like the first episode takes teams out of Bangkok after the eating task on Khao San Road, to the bus terminal outside of the capital (that two-storeyed building, some teams arriving at night), and over the next day to the Pitstop across empty field. Does that sound right?
