Tuesday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See
The One-Shoe Jackpot: With a semifinal “show-stopping” mambo, followed by a “shoe-tossing” jitterbug, Lance Bass went from dark horse to Dancing’s surprise front-runner and judges’ favorite. “Getting a nine and then a 10 from Len–that’s a feat in itself!” Bass exclaimed. “Going into the finals, we suddenly have Len on our side, it’s so odd, but so perfect! Len didn’t like my dances when I was wearing both shoes, didn’t like my dance when I wore no shoes, but he loved the dance that I did with one shoe!”
Bass’s partner Lacey Schwimmer did her best to temper her partner’s enthusiasm going into the finals, saying diplomatically, “All three of the celebrities have what it takes to win, so it’s anybody’s ball game from here on out. Lance and I are going to pull out all the stops so that we can to win this thing!” With the audience and the judges (finally) backing them up, the one-time “outcasts” have the mirror-ball trophy in their sights. “Our confidence is definitely high,” Bass said, “We’ve tried taking chances all season long, just to see what works. Now we know what works, we’re going to use it to our advantage.”
Play Misty for Cody: Cody Linley may have lost his shot at the mirror-ball trophy, but he certainly danced his way into the hearts of his pro partner, and his fellow contestants. “Cody has grown so much,” Julianne Hough said. “He has become a man on this show, and you can see it in the way that he acts, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.” “You get closer and closer to the people that are left,” a misty-eyed Lance Bass said after the show, “and Cody was definitely someone that we got really close to. He was like a brother to us, and we watched him grow from a boy to a man.”
Hough Stumping for Hough: With two-time DWTS champ Julianne Hough out of the competition, she wasn’t shy about which remaining couple she was backing. “Brooke and Derek, all the way!” Julianne yelled along the press line, adding, “Everyone that voted for us, please vote for them!” Though Derek and his partner Brooke Burke have made the finals, the “other Hough” told PEOPLE “There’s just a lot to do.” “I felt that Brooke deserved to be in the finals, but as far as feeling ’safe’? That’s a different story. You never feel safe on this show.”
False Sense of Security: Though Burke claims she did feel safe on Tuesday’s results show. “He was holding me up the entire time, hugging me so tightly, I felt very safe and cozy up there,” said Burke. “Actually, If we had been eliminated, I was going to snap her neck to save her the pain of being eliminated,” quipped Derek, who then amended his comment after finding out Brooke’s fiancé David Charvet was nearby. “I was putting her in a sleeper-hold, trying to rock her to sleep so that she would get light-headed and pass out before they announced the fact that we didn’t make the finals.”
Family First, Finals Second: One-time quarterback-killing machine, Warren Sapp once boasted that surviving past the first week of DWTS would be a victory in itself. So how did the NFL Hall of Fame defensive tackle celebrate making it to the ballroom finals? By skipping press and taking his daughter, Mercedes, out for a birthday dinner.
“He’s a family man first, a working father second and a dancing man third!” partner Kym Johnson explained. “He’s taking his daughter out for her birthday tonight, and that’s all he has his sights set on.” Johnson, who last made the finals of DWTS with Joey Fatone only to finish second, promised to crack the whip on Sapp’s return. “When he gets back to Los Angeles, he’s all mine!” she said. “My focus is on the mirror-ball trophy, so I’ll practice wherever we can. I’ll grab Warren on a bus stop, and I’ll start teaching him dance steps there if I have to.”

An interview with Cody and Julianne:
"I tried and that is ultimately what I wanted to do."
How are you feeling?
Julianne: I am feeling great, thank you for asking.
Cody: I look at the is whole experience and feel proud, confident and excited for the future. I am blessed to be walking away from this competition with a true gift, that I received from Julianne, and the fans especially.
How proud are you of each other for making it so far?
Julianne: When I first met Cody I thought - Oh, this is going to be fun - an 18-year-old kid. I had no idea how deep and in touch with all his friends he really is. He is so caring and loving and determined to work hard. I cannot be more proud of him. He has been the most different partner I have had on any of my seasons. He is a winner to me for sure. I said from day one that this show would completely change his life and his opportunities now are incredible.
Cody: I never expected to do this well. I am proud of myself because I made my family proud and represented myself well. I felt like I tried and that is ultimately what I wanted to do. My goal in life is to give 100 percent at everything I do and felt like I totally did. Now I am getting emotional!
Did you get a lot of new fans from doing Dancing With The Stars?
Cody: Yeah I am feeling the love from the fans, and the girls are getting older. From Hannah, my Disney fan base was 8-14-year-olds. They were the ones who'd recognize me and be excited to see me. Now I have 8-year-olds to the Cloris Leachman set. I'm like heck yes! I met a mom on a plane and she said if I was ever in Oxnard, Calif., here's my phone number, come by and I'll cook you a home-cooked meal because I know how hard it is. She actually gave me half of her bacon, egg and cheese bagel, too.
What's next for you both?
Cody: There's a lot going on. After this it's home for Thanksgiving to eat lots of food. I have been loosing weight on the show. December 7th, there is a new Hannah Montana episode marking Jake Ryan's return. I have an independent horror film coming out called Forget Me Not, which is really scary and you'll see a totally new side of me you have never seen. Also for Christmas I recorded a part in a 20-disc audio book called The Word Of Promise. It's the bible read by teen celebrities and I play Jesus. Jordin Sparks and Jesse McCartney are just a few of the people also involved.
Julianne: I have my Christmas CD out at Target. I'll be promoting that and doing a couple of shows including Christmas in Washington. I am excited about that. There is also a really cool tour that I am going to be on that will be announced soon.
Is there a chance you might do the Dancing With The Stars tour?
Cody: I'd love to do it, it'll be fun and the tour doesn't conflict with my Hannah Montana schedule. Just going to see all the fans and dancing in different cities would be an amazing time. I am looking forward to being there at some point. Nothing is finalized yet but I'll maybe make an appearance - you will see me in a city near you.
Julianne: I'll bring him out on the road with me and he can come sing with me as he's a great singer, too.

Julianne Hough's Blog:
Julianne Hough: "Vote For My Brother Derek"
Don't be sad. Someone has to leave; too bad it was us, but it's the name of the game. Cody and I hoped for the best and expected the worst. We definitely got the worst. We’re OK with it, though. He came to terms with it. He came such a long way since the beginning, and I’m so proud of him. When I first me him, I thought he was going to be this young, immature kid, but as I’ve gotten to know him, I've realized that he’s a deep, loving young man.
He’s going to have a lot of opportunities coming his way from doing this show, putting his heart on his sleeve, and trying so hard. I think he made a lot of new fans.
I feel like I've been awake since yesterday. I stayed up with Derek late last night; we were hanging out after the show and he asked if I wanted to help him out with some lifts he was practicing for Brooke. I said absolutely, anything I can do to help you win. I’m totally rooting for you
I want everyone who voted for Cody and me – first, thank you very much – but start voting for Brooke and Derek!
I got up at 3:45 am to get ready for Good Morning America. Then I got home and did phoners with radio stations and now I’m doing this blog.
I want to thank all of you who have listened to my album, said such nice things about my songs, and waited patiently for last night's performances of "My Hallelujah Song." I was excited it finally ran. As I wrote a few weeks ago when that was taped, I’ve sung in front of thousands of people, but I don’t think I”ve ever been as nervous as when I performed on the show in front of my peers and the producers. It was fun but definitely nerve-wracking.
A lot of you have asked what's next. Well, there’s one more week and because everyone is back for the finale, I figured I’d stay here in case my brother needs any more help. I’m presenting at the AMAs. I’m doing some last minute stuff. Then packing up my clothes and shipping everything back to my place in Nashville.
I’m spending Thanksgiving with my family in Las Vegas. I’m doing the run of Christmas shows. I have one in Washington, which I mentioned yesterday. Getting ready for next year. There are two really great tours coming up. I’m 99.9% sure I’ll be on one of them.
I won’t be on Dancing this spring season. I don’t know about the fall. Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see. I’m definitely going to focus on the music. My first album was a learning experience, and I can’t wait for the next one. I feel like the writing and producing will be even better, really awesome.
My prediction: I really hope Brooke and Derek win. I think they deserve to win. From day one, they’ve been awesome. I think Brooke is the most technically sound of the celebrities and she’s a beautiful dancer.
