The Amazing Race Asia 3 Spoilers/Speculation

--- Quote from: georgiapeach on May 27, 2008, 10:15:48 PM ---I'm reading it a little differently:
--we KNOW that the eating task was being prepared on Khao San Road, Bangkok on MAY 20 by 2 separate photos dated
--Andrew tells us that his photo of the task in progress was May 20 or 21st, so let's assume May 20 (goes w/ task being set up then)
--woman arrives in Vietnam on May 19
--managed to get to the Q-bar every other night she was there
--the 2nd night she was there, she saw the race
--suppose 1st night she went was May 20, then 2nd night she was there could be May 22
--clearly these dates are subject to error and could be May 21 or May 23 equally as likely ...
--her event involved teams of some sort, but not necessarily a local TAR event
So I think Bangkok for sure on May 20, and then Saigon, Vietnam May 21-23 ish
So are these our first 2 legs? Or did we miss one? ???
Because we also have the blog report for "crossing the Amazing race" in Beijing... and the only 2 days that poster was stuck in the Beijing airport were May 19 and 20th.
So I am wondering if we have
Beijing airport sighting May 19 or 20>> heading to Bangkok
Bangkok May 20-21
Saigon May 21-23 ish
Was Beijing the site of the first leg? Nice Olympic tie-in perhaps...

Peach, I have gone back to doublecheck what I read. Several points emerge from this:
1. I buy your assessment that ARA3 was in Bangkok around May 21.
2. The teams clealy must turn up in Saigon later that week, not knowing exactly when but possibly as late at May 25.
3. Re-reading the blog listed as a link in puddin's post#11 on May 23, I have brought some of it below:

I envy you for seeing an actual shooting of an Amazing Race in Beijing. We are actually tracking them down since they started filming it last May 20.
Finally Arrived Ulaan Bator
Stucked in Beijing - 20 May @ 9:35am"
This makes it fairly clear that if this was ARA3 and not a local race ARA3 may have started May 20 in Beijing.
4. Given the laws of physics and tranportation, teams cannot be in both Beijing and Bangkok at Khao San Road on the same afternoon of May 20. Which do you want to believe?

Here is how I interpreted that blog:
--they were on their way to Mongolia on MAY 19,
--- Quote ---(Yes, we are still leaving to Mongolia on 19th May, 0110hrs)
--- End quote ---
but were not able to catch their flight. They spent the night at an airport hotel in prep for an 8AM flight (which was delayed till 7PM). If they were there 2 hours beforehand, their sighting could have been from 6AM onwards.
--so in my mind they were in the airport BOTH May 19 and 20 and could have seen the race either day.
--BUT I'm thinking the teams were leaving Beijing for Bangkok and prob arriving the day we see them doing the bug eating, which appears to be May 20.
--So say they departed Beijing AM of May 20>>> what kind of flights are available to get them to Bangkok by early-mid afternoon? Would that be possible?
--If not, then what about the evening of 5/19?
and in ref to the comment:
We are actually tracking them down since they started filming it last May 20.
This is a poster from a forum which has been getting almost all of their info directly from our pages. ;) So they know no more than we do right now...
which is that the race started "one day last week" which would be in the week beginning Sunday 5/18... So I'm guessing that the race started either the 18th or 19th (leaning towards the 19th) in Beijing, and prob NOT the 20th...

The Land of Smiles
Northern Thailand has been one adventure after another and is certainly the highlight of my time in Asia.
The adventures started at the airport in Chiang Mai when three sets of couples ran past us, each trailed by a camera guy and an audio guy. We are pretty sure that they were part of the show The Amazing Race but when we asked them all one guy could say was "I don't know what you're talking about." Yeah, right.
