or is it considered an unsafe country by the U.S. department of whatever its called...?

i'd look it up myself, but i lost the link to the site that marks countries safe to travel to or not, and as you can tell i have no idea what that department is... is it the department of safety?

--- End quote ---

It is the Department of State, David.

I think you can find everything on travel warnings and restrictions through this link:

My attempt at a new CBS-friendly race:

Start City: Atlanta, Georgia
Leg 1: to Gibraltar (I always though this could be done like TARA, where the Detour is in Start City, then there's a RB/Pit Stop in Gibraltar)
Leg 2: to Leplis Magna, Libya
Leg 3: to Innsbruck, Austria to Vaduz, Liechtenstein
Leg 4: to Cape Town, South Africa (and for added fun, don't tell them where to fly from. Liechtenstein had no airports but train service to Zurich, Vienna, Milan, Munich and other cities in that region)
Leg 5: still in Cape Town, South Africa (making up for the lack of Africa in most races)
Leg 6: to Victoria, Seychelles
Leg 7: to Ahmedabad, India (either with a TBC in Mumbai or transit through Mumbai)
Leg 8: to Kuala Belait, Brunei
Leg 9: to Sydney, Australia (I can't believe we've had only one half leg in Sydney)
Leg 10: to Nadi, Fiji
Finish city: St. Louis, Missouri (Midwest <3)

I think Atlanta could be a seriously fine city for a start, loads of great places to use. With the added benefit for CBS of giving me a heart attack when I missed it! :funny:

Neobie:
Inspired by Joab in the hope of an epic Singapore leg. Sucksters claim it's impossible, but we could try! (Oh since we're bored anyway.)

Detour: Food in Mouth or Foot in Mouth

Really, if there's anything that makes Singapore unique, it's that it can cobble together so many different ethnicities and cultures and have everyone actually get along... This Detour is a testament to the state's (relative) success.

I demand that any Singapore leg be run entirely on public transport.

Food in Mouth
Travel by public transport to three different locations and finish a serving of local food:

Progress from relatively easy to the tourist-killer... Teams get the next instructions after finishing at each location.

"Sambal Belacan" at Kampung Glam
  Shrimp paste with rice
  Influence: Malay
"Fish Head Curry" (written in Tamil, geez I have no idea!) at Little India
Indian spices and the weirdness of eating a fish's head
  Influence: S Indian
"榴槤" at Geylang
Durian, well we all know this one
Influence: SE Asian in general, but the Geylang shops are Chinese

Foot in Mouth
Travel by public transport to three different locations using audio messages on a cell phone:

Locals may not listen in on the phone, so teams would have to convey the message orally. Problem is, teams must find someone of the correct race/ethnicity to be able to translate the message, and that's if they can pronounce it correctly. Cue absolute communication breakdown.

"Rumah Baba di Jalan Neil" (Baba House on Neil St)
  Peranakan terrace-house, built 1860s
  Language: Peranakan Malay
"Oo Chia Zui Thien Hock Keng" (Temple of Heavenly Happiness in Chinatown)
Oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore, built 1821
  Language: Hokkien Chinese
"Boon Keng Wadda Gurdwara" (Central Sikh Temple in Boon Keng)
Oldest Sikh temple in Singapore, built 1912
  Language: Punjabi

My Roadblock is a cruel poke at the Government, but that's for another day.

DavidJunior:
possible cast (not necessarily my wishlist):

1. young dating couple
2. young dating couple take 2  fit middle-aged F/F team (a la Bowling Moms)
3. fighting couple (married or dating)
4. older dating couple (grandparents?)
5. homosexual couple (haven't seen one of those in a while) (male or female)
6. siblings (very popular in recent seasons)
7. siblings part 2 (twins please...)
8. parent/child (also very popular in recent races)
9. other possible family relationships (i.e. cousins, grandparent/child, aunt or uncle/niece or nephew)
10. best friends
11. best friends II
12. co-workers (love that they had one in the Israeli version)

i really hope that my guess for number 9 isn't cousins, since i want to use the absence of a cousin team since Charla/Mirna to my advantage  when I apply with my cousin (unfortunately, we have to wait a couple years before we are able to apply....)
