Hmmm, I really wasn't saying that as something light. I think Dick could/would have easily grabbed Jen by the throat like he wanted. My ex boyfriend stabbed me and almost killed me had it not been for one of my dogs grabbing him and me getting away. So obviously im a loser who takes abuse serious I guess *shrug*. Im done now.

First, anyone that survives that kind of abuse isn't a loser.  Please don't do that to yourself.

My wife is a walking, talking, miracle, who suffered the evil cycle of abusers for years.  Her first husband used her as a frisbee, and she was abused by multiple boyfriends before that.  So she understands abusers, and takes abuse VERY seriously.  And she thinks Dick is hilarious.

Now see this is my point - people do actually understand that it is staged, but they are still ok with CBS reinforcing that kind of abusive attitude toward women (and he has been verbally abusive to all of them - Jen, Carol, Kail, Amber, Jameka) in order to up their ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was also abusive to Eric and Dustin. It's not just against women.

I just think people are focusing too much time on ED's strategy. If anyone plays poker think of it like that one person on the table that is a complete idiot. Making fun of other people, intimidating them etc. If you knew that person away from the table you would be shocked to know that they are probably a very nice caring person. But at the table he tries to get under your skin so that you lose focus and try to beat him instead of playing your game. It is a tactic, and a good one at that. People who stop thinking strategically and more emotionally don't make the correct decisions.

Being intimidating at a poker table and making comments like the following are hardly comparable.  

One of the show's contestants, a 44-year-old man named Dick has repeatedly verbally attacked 23-year-old Jen, calling her crude names, telling her he’d like to sodomize her until she bleeds to death and that if he was wasn't in the house (and at risk of being expelled) he would like to kill her.

I just have to ask if you guys really think this is the type of strategy that is worth defending at the expense of condoning abusive attitudes towards women?  And yes he has been this crude to Dustin - but NEVER to Zach or Eric - Anyway, NO ONE should be treated this way.

Sometimes I wonder if people who defend Dick actually see or hear 1/10th of what he says.

I still think that if someone would have just pointed at him and started laughing loudly when he first started acting this way, it would have defused the whole thing.  But by giving him the reaction he wanted - some getting rattled and others standing by and letting it happen - it just reinforced to him that the tactic would work.

Seriously, it is more staged than you think and is not worth getting all bent out of shape about it. I really don't think that anything will happen to any HG.

I guess we should all stop watching all tv.  Because there is violence and abuse towards women on every channel, not just CBS. Yes it is staged,   yes, we like to watch the wild behavior on Big Brother.
My only advise to anyone who does not want to see any kind of violence, whether it is verbal, physical, towards men or women or children is.......     If you don't want to watch , turn off your set and your comp!

Alaskaland  no offense taken,   I just get tired of people griping   and running things in the ground.   If they think it is too violent to watch or hits too close to home, just don't watch. The button is only a click away.

I honestly think that if you ignore him and everyone else did that eventually he will just be flapping his mouth into the wind and he would grow tired of it and stop.  I believe that if no one listened that he would stop because he would grow tired of of no one listening to him.  He does like having the attention to a degree, but not nearly as much as Jen likes the attention.

Well they just showed the fight again on the show.  The thing from the other night, I am unsure if cbs editted it to make one look better than the other because when I watched it happen live on Showtime the first half of it occurred before Showtime, and some things were not shown to us when it happened because Showtime likes to stick with one feed for a period of time and not always switch the feeds like how it is edited here.  Did anyone's views opinions change about it?  Just wondering.

Lets see I have posted maybe 10 times since I joined.  I normally only get on to catch up on everything that has happened since the last show.  I usually don't even log in, but from the looks of some of the posters (not the updaters, they are great) they spend hours on the site just trying to make people mad.  IMO
