makdoric01:
I heard from reliable source they visited Bosnia maybe Sarajevo or Mostar.. most probably Mostar since its close to Dubrovnik but maybe both.. "We're going to a couple of places that I don't even know where they are on the map. I've had to go look them up." I think this might be it.. Prague, Dubrovnik, Mostar and Sarajevo for Europe this year.

Thank you Colby and makdoric for the info!!  :yess:

I've been given the go ahead to post the additional information I received.

This is the info she was able to get from my co-workers Mom:

--- Quote ---"girdwood was the city.  she couldn't remember the name of the glacier."
--- End quote ---

I asked her if Girdwood is where they did both tours she mentioned before:

--- Quote ---"oh, and yes, girdwood is where they did the tours."
--- End quote ---

I asked her if her mom recalled the tour company names and she said:

--- Quote ---"no, but she said the boat one was something about a 20 mile river."
--- End quote ---

I asked her if the tour companies they used were operated by the same company or different ones.  This is what she said:

--- Quote ---"i think different but since she didn't remember the names, not sure.  she just was given a list to pick from when she won the trip."
--- End quote ---

So it sounds like the trip they won from Alaska Airlines had tour packages.

I looked up Girdwood online and came up with this:

Blue Ice Ride
http://www.akback.com/half-day%20activities%202.htm#Blue%20Ice%20Ride
This spectacular jet boat ride is unlike any in the world. Our experienced boat captain will take you up the remote 20 Mile River Valley to Carmen Lake and the magnificent 20 Mile Glacier. …….

The glacier hike could be from here:

or
http://www.theascendingpath.com/

And last but not least, she had this to say:

--- Quote ---"oh, she also said she thinks it was one of the last locations according to their guide."
--- End quote ---

At first I took that to mean that alaska was on their way to the final destination.  But I asked her if she meant that Alaska is
Possibly the final destination.  She said:

--- Quote ---"i think so, she said she only remembers him mentioning 3 boats (not sure if it was 3 boats besides his or including his)."
--- End quote ---

I never thought of Alaska as the final city but I guess it would be possible and definitely a first!  This isn't confirmed so take it with a grain of salt for now until someone can verify.  :)

-----------

This is the new information that I just received.

The trip my co-workers parent's were on was last week with their return date this past weekend (Aug -18-19th)  They did state that the river guide they had mentioned they had just filmed 2 weeks prior which would put TAR in Alaska during the weeke of July 30 through August 3rd, which fits with the August 3rd finale date.

Also, the trip her parents were on was a trip they won from Alaska Airlines.  The tours they chose were from that travel package.  I looked up  Vacation packages at Alaska Airlines and came up with this:

Girrwood is offered as part of a vacation package.  All tours are listed there.

Here are the tours offered in the Alaska Airlines vacation package that fit with my info above:

Hike Alyeska Glacier

I plan on asking more info this afternoon but I think this is a good start.

Thank you for sharing Colby! Excellent detective work  :yess:

Slowhatch:
Girdwood is also the home to Alpine Air, which WRP used in TAR2 (see special thanks below). I think the TAR9 racers were also supposed to fly there (Drill it or Deliver it Detour), but bad weather cancelled out the flights.
I've got nothing against the Anchorage-Denali axis, but if the race is spending any time "North of 60" I wish they would visit places like the Yukon, NWT or Nunavut instead.
