If the log gathering is a detour option, then Eric/Danielle did it too... Guys behind Danielle in first picture (one in red shirt, the other in vertical stripes) are same as those in second picture.
And the d00d with the marimba could show up here. Just a thought, based on the terrain and the houses around.

Maybe Eric/Danielle switched from Gathering (logs) to Hunting (throwing ax). There is a definite picture of Danielle setting to throw in the dark.
eta: However, when looking at pictures and video again it is a BQ with the logs and guy with striped shirt. Daniel has on a top with straps, not a halter and Danielle's hat is dark, not white like the BQ have on.

Same club, different tribe: the Maasai call it a rungu (also here). Mswood had it a couple of days ago. The ones in the cap look handmade, with the weight of the knob off-center of shaft; they would make lousy throwing weapons.
