All-stars return for another 'Race'

By Mike Hughes | Lansing State Journal

The art of making a reality show begins long before the clever camerawork and slick editing.

It involves casting the contestants. That peaks Sunday with "The Amazing Race: All-Stars."

This is the 11th edition of the show, which sends duos around the world. "We had 220 or 230 (teams) to choose from," said producer Bertram van Munster.

For starters, he wants people who can survive. "They should be in good physical and mental condition, with a good sense of humor."

This time, they also needed good body heat. The global route included Ushauia, which van Munster calls "an absolutely beautiful" island, 500 miles from Antarctica.

HA! He's getting closer, only missed the Antarctic Peninsula by 200 miles this time. However, he refers to USHUAIA as an island, which it is not. The quite large island where USHUAIA is situated is Tierra Del Fuego. The first mistake is understandable since the Amazing Race apparently did not go to Antarctica and BVM never had a geography lesson on that part of the world. The second is inexcusable since they just raced there in episode 4 of AR11.

Perhaps by the time Amazing Race All-Stars are over, BVM will havelearned USHUAIA geography. We can always hope.

puddin:
Are you going to correct BVM again apskip ?

before I forget another interview with Phil @ IGN

Chateau d If:
BVM will soon be calling us something worse than 'pundits'.
