--- Quote from: puddin on June 25, 2006, 11:57:06 AM ---Heres the Tytyri mine and the Tytyri limestone mine
Tytyri mine museum, Lohja. Mining has been a source of livelihood in Lohja since the 16 th century, when Gustavus Vasa, King of Sweden and Finland gave his permission to start the first iron mine in this country. Limestone was first excavated in 1897 and industrial mining began in 1911. It became partly subterranean in 1947 when great blocks were droped from the surface quarry to a crushing plant, 110 metres deeper. In 1956 all mining was under the ground. Today the miners work at 350 metres. The network of tunnels crisscrossning under the lake and the town is over 60 kilometres long. A museum demonstrating the work in Tytyri mine was opened on a level 110 metres below the surface, in May 1988. For further information call Lohja Tourist Information, telephone, 019-3691 309 or Lohja Museum telephone, 019-3694 203

Just so happens there is a famous restaurant near Olympic Stadium (next to Opeara House) and in/near a park. Perhaps Phil was having a coffee at Restaurant Töölönranta. :-\ hey, it could happen ;D (see .kmz file attached)

Signal, do you know if all the Finland stuff happened 6/16? It seems like a lot. Maybe we have 2 legs in Finland before they move on to Spain?

Well, they were seen in Helsinki-Vantaa airport 16th, climbing the Helsinki Olympic Stadium tower 16th, Tampere and Ylöjärvi 16th, Turku 16th, so it looks like all happened same day. But I have to say that many have said that they've seen the participants here in the weekend (17th-18th) also, but cannot confirm that. The cars were seen in the highway probably going to port of Hanko in early last week, but I think they were just returning the cars to Germany, since the cars seen had german license plates just like in Turku. As mentioned before they were supposed to go Lohja with cars from Turku and there's no sightings after Turku so they could've went anywhere, it's possible that there was other tasks to do somewhere and maybe they had to spent a night somewhere? that's just a guess.
It does seem quite a lot for one day, but example train trip Helsinki-Tampere takes just 2 hours, Ylöjärvi is less than 20 km's from Tampere, and train from Tampere to Turku takes about 2 hours also, so it's not that much travelling.
To me it sounds very boring actually, so I really hope they went some other places.

Few sources have said that the race continued to Belarus after Finland. And I don't think it was just a connection point.
Oh and also there is some info about their "task" in Ylöjärvi. Obviously it was some kind of obstacle course at swamp :D
The landowner of the area is keeping his mouth shut, but nearby neighbours reported a helicopter and lots of people including security who kept the nosy ones far. The famous clue box was also seen there.

FWIW, here's something about swamps in Ylöjärvi.
Interesting quote:
There are only few swamps in this area. One swamp called Tappisuo around Lake Kotamusjärvi and Taaborinvuori area has remained in its natural state.
Edited to add: WebCam of market area of town
