EP9: 'Being Polite Sucks Sometimes ' * video !! *

mswood:
Depending on the latitude of the area they are in (and since this was filmed in summer) the higher north you are the longer you have daylight.

As someone who had lived 26 years in Alaska, during summer while we do have sunset (at least in most of the state), we for the July and August often have enough light throughout the whole night (ie sun as set, but its so close to the horizen that it never truely gets dark).

Of course for winter the reverse is true where we would only get 4-6 hours of sunlight (and if you had a day job without windows you went without seeing the sun) and of course even further north they go literally without the sun rising.

mswood:
Just checked latitude.  And Finland is a very close match to Alaska for the latitude it has through its borders.

Reality Junkee:
So what times do you think the teams leave the pitstop (or when did they arrive last week)?

One more thing:  I'm trying to go through all the posts and am trying to determine which is the roadblock and the detour.   ???

puddin:
A few pages back Chateau explains that in Finland they have unending daylight hours during summer..unlike us.

at Twop's Chateau and the other members do an excellent timeline :

--- Quote ---I was working on some time estimates at home and I will get it finished in a day or so.

But so far, I've got that the BQ's checked in at 2:43 pm.

And for the rest:

T&J at 2:56
R&K at 3:03
Chos at 3:15
Alabama at later than 4:00 but before 4:45 with Kentucky arriving about 5 min before them.
--- End quote ---

eta more on Finland:

Summer
The sun doesn't set at all up north for two whole months (June - July) and even in the south the nights are just to slip into the early hours of dusk. Summer is the time of the midnight sun.
