Pop musician Rick Springfield, whose hits include "Jesse's Girl," is on a "We Are the '80s" summer tour with other 1980s groups from Dallas to Hollywood.

Springfield topped the charts in the early '80s and also played a starring role in the TV soap, "General Hospital." Now, 25 years after winning a Grammy award for "Jessie's Girl," Springfield is touring the country with Bangles, Bow Wow Wow, Eddie Money, A Flock of Seagulls, Loverboy and Scandal, Entertainment Tonight said.

"(The 1980s) was probably the last safe decade, the last time anybody ever felt safe in the world," Rick said, Entertainment Tonight reported. "I think as the world gets more and more confusing, people go back to their roots."

The "We Are the '80s" tour kicked off July 8 in Ohio. Springfield headlines and other bands will join in on some dates: Dallas, Aug. 6; Boston, Aug. 10; Denver, Aug. 18; Tulalip, Wash., Aug. 26; Clearwater, Fla., Sept. 23, and Hollywood, Sept. 24.

"I have a great fan base, and I've been very attentive to my fan base, too," Springfield said. "I'm out there because of them."
Because sometimes the way to feel good about yourself is by making someone else feel bad. I am tired of making others feel good about themselves.
