Auditions for American Idol 6 will begin August 8 in Los Angeles. During August and September, the show will visit a total of seven cities, including two in the south, where all of the show’s winners have come from in the past. The auditions are again taking place in arenas, most of which have sold their names to corporate sponsors.

Anyone who’s age 16 to 28 at the time of the audition may try out. (Some versions of an AP story about the auditions have an incorrect upper limit; 28 is the maximum age according to the show’s site.) For further questions, “a full list of FAQs Release Forms will be posted shortly” on the show’s official site, it says, as will “video guides to audition cities.”
