They come to my area twice ? When do the tryouts start ? We have a hopefull living right here in the Pocono's , she just turned 16 and has won the local radio stations version of Idol ...would you beleive her dad is a " talent " agent .

Last night in Manchester, NH, the American Idol 5 finalists began their 51 city tour. Runner-up Katharine McPhee, however, was not with them.

She has “severe bronchitis and laryngitis,” according to the AP, and has been ordered by her doctors to have “total voice rest.” In a written statement, Katharine said, “I need to follow my doctor’s orders to recuperate and reunite with the rest of the idols. … That’s the most difficult part, not talking!”

The tour continues tonight in Manchester, and then moves on to Worcester Friday and Saturday. People magazine talked to some of the finalists to see what they’ll be bringing along on the tour, and the results are, to say the least, predictable. Bucky will bring a cowboy hat, and hopefully a personality, while Elliott will be brining his insulin. And Mandisa will have her Bible, which will be handy if she needs to swat away any of her former gay fans.

BTW, they are having a local American Idol contest (which I don't quite understand if this is for next season or not) in Chattanooga starting tomorrow. I told both my daughters (ages 18 and 23) that they should go try out, at least for fun!!!  :

The quest to become the next American Idol starts now. Auditions for the sixth edition of AMERICAN IDOL begin in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at a location to be named shortly.

Men and women 16 to 28 years old on Aug. 6, 2006, and eligible to work in the United States are welcome to audition. Restrictions apply – a full list of FAQs and Release Forms will be posted shortly. Additionally, coming soon, we will have video guides to audition cities, and photos and videos from every audition.

Ah ha!! I see this year they are going to San Antonio and skipping Austin. Not that it is a big distance for anyone to drive. We generally get a headsup if someone does well at the auditions.

I hope your daughters audition Tanny, and the  16 year old girl as well. It will be fun if they get to go to Hollywood.
