America's Got Talent
« on: June 23, 2006, 06:42:56 AM »
Did anyone watch this crapfest on Wednesday? While I did enjoy some of the talent, I felt like the judges were trying to hog the spotlight. The British judge (did I miss the notice where every show has to have one?) was are real jerk (as they usually are) and would almost immediatly buzz anyone he didn't like. He was even pushing the buzzers of the other judges!!!  Part of the fun is watching the ones who have ZERO talent embarrass themselves on national tv!!! "Moesha" and "The Baywatch Has-been" were trying really hard to be funny, but failed miserably!!!  :loser:

The show was trying hard to be like the old Gong Show with Chuck Barris, but was not even close!!!  :dork:

12.4 million watched America’s Got Talent
« Reply #2 on: June 23, 2006, 08:10:52 AM »
From realityblurred.com

NBC’s summertime talent search series debuted strongly on Wednesday. It was watched by an average of 12.4 million viewers, which “marked NBC’s strongest Nielsen performance in the Wednesday 9-11 p.m. time slot since April 2005, excluding the network’s
Winter Olympics coverage this year,” according to the AP.

The AP notes that it had a better series debut than American Idol did four summers ago, as it was watched by about 9.6 million people.

Among viewers 18 to 49, ratings “[were] 84 percent higher than the NBC average for the same time period last summer, and 44 percent above its tally for that slot all last season.”
Because sometimes the way to feel good about yourself is by making someone else feel bad. I am tired of making others feel good about themselves.

I started to watch this show with my kids. It is interesting in small doses though the judges suck. David Hasselhoff has such odd tastes and the Peirs guy buzzes to quickly from time to time. What does he think this is, the Gong Show? I'm waiting for the unknown comic to make an appearance.

What was the host's name? He was always ripped, seriously. LOL
Who were some of the judges? I remember Jamie Farr was one.

I honestly can't stand anyone on this show...the talent auditioning seems to be funnier than David, Brandy, Piers and Regis together!!! Hope they pull the plug, its cutting  into my So You Think You Can Dance!!!

First off, I have no idea why GSN doesn't air The Gong Show anymore. They used to air the show, but they no longer do after they had publically adknowledged that royalities for songs was too expensive for the network. Gee...that didn't stop them before...

Second, has anyone noticed acts that have appeared on other talent series?

The Quick Changing Artists were once the champions on a episode of Fox's 30 Seconds to Fame.
All That (the cloggers) were also champions on 30 Second to Fame, and also appeared on CBS's Star Search 4.

They appear to be favorites. Any complaints?

You would think the contestants should not have been winners of other major talent shows, let alone other network reality shows. Yea, seems a little skewed in my book. I do love the quick changers. How do they do that, especially the changing clothes thing?

since these guys are not professionals or whatever they let them audition...
think about American/Canadian Idol...
Previous top 30 or 100 or whatever audition the next year and they don't stop them...its a matter of working harder to get better and showing what talent you have currently......let them perform if they've won something before they must be good enough to watch and maybe the show will be betteR!!  :knuckles:

He was the sword balancer. He was originally denied but Brandy had second thoughts and called him back. She begged the other judges to let him pass despite dropping a sword once.

We watched part of this show last week and because nothing else was interesting we watched part of it this week. It was like DeJa vu.  :umn:    However it was the same thing we saw last week including the 6' glittering angel guy. We decided to watch paint dry instead!

They did have a some singers who were terrific, Ha! Looking at NBC, I don't even see them listed! Sidekick? Perhaps that was their name. No doubt they will find an agent, but I won't be watching this show again.
The choices we make dictate the life we lead.
