Big Brother UK Version
« on: June 10, 2006, 08:32:36 AM »
Hi all - new here so bear with me.

Have any of you had the opportunity to watch the British version of Big Brother?  That is where I originally became hooked on the show.  BB UK has a much more interesting version in my humble opinion.  BB makes the contestants actually DO things in order to win food for the week, luxury competitions etc.  I seem to remember this occuring on earlier American BB, but not the last few shows.  Another aspect of their show is that talking about who should be nominated or any discussion of nominations is strictly prohibited.

Anyway, just wanted to throw some thoughts into the pot.  I hope BB7 has more activities for the poor contestants this year, seems like they never had to do anything except for the Golden Veto stunts.

Big Brother UK is SOOOO much better than the US version IMO.  I had the chance to watch it the past 2 years while visiting Corwall in the summer.  Much better run show without all the constant planning about alliances that take up half of the US show.

This is actually related so bear with me. I was watching Doctor Who on Friday and he was transported to the future where Big Brother was still going on. The only drawback was that the contestants were killed as they were evicted. It was pretty funny.

I've been meaning to look for BB UK on the net but have not had time to download anything let along watch it.

Just curious if anyone else is watching this. I just watched the first episode introducing all 14 houseguests. I must say, it's so much different than the American version, but whetting my appitite for the American version just as much.

I'm considering writing up an article for the news page. Anyone else want to be kept up to date on the UK version?

I would love it.  I have always thought the UK version was more interesting.

I've been watching the last few episodes and have really been dragged in. It's very interesting.

I finished watching the first week and will be posting my notes tonight. Anyone else that has seen this, I would love to hear your comments on it so far. What a week! Drama Queens, Tirades, Ranting and Raving, Cheating and the closest I've ever seen to a housemate stoned to death to eliminate them. Check out the news page tonight for some VERY interesting stories.

Shahbaz! LOL Seriously if you watched the show I think you'd like Richard. His bark is worse than his bite. He's a real nice guy. Shahbaz on the otherhand is a nutcase, even Richard can'ts stand him. You have GOT to read my first weeks article when I post it.

Just for the record Cole, I've got several hundred hits for the article already and a few people welcoming me to the BB-UK. If you think BB is big here, you should see it there! The shows are daily, and they have a pre and post show as well.

No no no. LOL Seriously, the profile of them does not do anyone justice. From now on I think I will include links to youtube of some of the more hilarious stuff going on. I need to find a clip of Nikki pouting about not having bottled water. Again, look for the link to my review later tonight.

Weren't there several more posts to this thread?   ???

I'm not a Big Brother lover, even though I did happen to watch the very first one in the US.  I had heard the UK version was very different, before it was mentioned here.  One day I was web surfing and came upon a UK version BB video and thought I'd check it out, just to see what all the hoopla is about.  Well, people should be aware they may get a whole lot more than they bargained for with the British Big Brother.

This video had a few people sitting around talking when one gal and guy decided to have sex.  We see them go to the bedroom and start putting up lots of things in front of the cameras so they could do some, um, undercover work.  Their only problem was they didn't know where ALL the cameras were.  They proceeded to get naked and get down to business.  I was SHOCKED, to say the least.  The video turned into X-rated porn, and there weren't any covers!   :o

I guess the censors of UK television are way, way more relaxed than we have here in the states.  Also, a lot of the language spoken was a whole lot of gross cursing, definitely things we don't hear on our TV.  I'm just mentioning this so others can be aware, should they be sensitive to (or disgusted by) those things.  Obviously, it's not my thing.

I've been keeping up with the BB7UK shows too.  This is also my first time watching the summer UK show and I've been addicted to it too.  I'm all caught up to the episodes available and it only gets better and better with the more episodes.

Since I live in the US, I can't see this show on my Television, so I get it through mIRC on the the #survivor-central channel, if any of you are interested in seeing it yourself.  I think it's a definite watch if your a fan of the US version.

Watching can take some getting used to.  Yes the censorship is more like HBO, Cinemax, ect. on all channels.

Yea, I'm just about caught up. I only need to catch up from last week, and I have a good idea I know who was evicted on Friday.

Yep, all explained in the third week recap. Susie does seem nice. What are your impressions of her?

Susie bores me.  She basically does nothing besides sun-bathing and sleeping in the golden bedroom.  I guess I haven't formed a complete inpression of her because they haven't given her enough air time besides the task they did in Week 4.  If she got into the Diary Room more, then I'll have a more complete impression of her.
