Bama sucks.  They are tied at leg at with the worst record of any team (including all thosse teams that get eliminated from leg 8 to leg 12).

Remember, Bama finished behind Kentucky in Madagascar.  Without the 30 minute time penalty for Kentucky, Bama would be out!

Yeah they were saved by the new non elimination penality (which doesn't bother me, since I like the new non elimination policy).

But to give everyone an idea 47 teams in the regular seasons of the amazing race have made it to Leg 8.

Bama is tied with the worst leg performance with 4 other teams, Kami & Karli (Season5), Gretchen & Meredith (7) and David & Mary (10).

So even more then their bad attitude, I hate the idea of a bad team, lucking out and managing to make final three (though it does sometimes happen that a really bad team does make final three).  But for that team then to win.  Oh hell no.

Anf their average placement in legs is 6.13.

Out of those that won the Amazing Race the worst average is (at this stage) Chip & kim with 4.43, tehn Chris & Alex 4.13, tehn Freddy & KEndra & Uchenna & Joyce with 4.00. all other winning teams have better go from 3.75 all the way down to 2.63.

And that at this stage of the race.  For Bama to be average each leg nearly two full placing worse then teh worst winner, you will here me screaming, if they win.  Its bad enough that only once has teh team with the best average actually won their season (chip & Reichen), but at least it is usually the 2cd best team that wins.  I can accept that.  Bama's numbers.  Absolutely not.

How does it look, placement-wise, for Rob/Kim and Tyler/James? None of these teams have really dominated this season, but I assume they are better than Bama.

I would hate if Bama wins. That would make it the worst ending ever in my book.

Agree about the Bama's...And what is the worst? If the Cho's hadn't spoonfed them the flight info for out via Jo-burg--they would have missed that flight for sure and would be hours behind on the Finland leg and might not have been able to catch up. Darn it all! (Okay, I know there will be airport bunching, but a girl can dream, can't she?)

Just don't want Karlyn to win (actually don't have much problem with Lyn)--I want my winners to have enjoyed the race--not run it with a pickle face'd sense of entitlement!

Okay for the rest of the bunch

Tyler and James place 11th (on the list of 47 teams that performed leg 8) with a 3.00 average.  OUt of all the winners of teh AR regular editions only one winning team at this point hada  better average (last season's BJ & TYler).  But almost every 2cd place team had a better record.

Dustin & Kandice are at 14th with 3.25 (they have the same record as these teams (Rob & Brennan s. 1, and Derek & Drew s. 3.

Rob & Kimberly are at 18th with a 3.38 the same average as Kevin & Drew s1, Hayden & Aaron s.6, and Ron & Kelly s7.

Erwin & Godwin are at 32cd with a 4.63 Just averaging slightly worse then the worst scored winner Chip and Kim.

So Tyler & James, Dustin & Kandice and Rob & Kimberly have good to respectible numbers (none are outstanding).

Hopefully I will have the full list posted on the non spoiler board by sometime tonight.  I will also be posted a possible range for each team depending on if they did they best they could until the ending, or if they did the worst they could (and still not be eliminated) for a range of possible final three marks for all 5 remaining teams.

Karlyn looks more piss-faced than Lyn, but I wouldn't give Lyn a million either. They are both miserable people.

Thanks mswood for the statistics. Too bad we won't see a final with T/J, R/K and D/K. That would have rocked...

Yeah, unforunately at this stage of hte race with final data (leg 8), only two season had all three teams that made the finals as its best players.  That'ss eason 1 (which featured exceptionally strong runs by all three final three teams at this point with it ranging from 2.38-3.25 for all three teams) and tehn season 5 which had a much bigger variance of 2.63-4.43.

All other seasons either had a tie (season 7 with Lynn and Alex having an equal rating with Uchenna Joyce) or season 3 & 9 which featured the third highest rating team not making final three (Derek & Drew and Joseph & Monica), or cases like seasons 2, 4 and 6 where two teams out of the top three failed to make three (Oswald & Danny, Gary & Dave for season 2; Millie & CHuck and Jon & Al for season 4; and Hayden & Aaron and Jonathan & Victoria for season's 6).

It would have been nice to see the three best overall teams at this point make final three.

Hey Mswood, I'm getting curious about all these stats you are making for the teams.  I always wanted to have some such form of information.  But I never got around to putting it together.  What I am wondering about is what is the algorithm you have for the calculation?

I suspect it is some way of averaging finish positions but my mind starts going to different directions thinking about how to deal with diminishing number of teams as the race goes on and on how the competition starts to get stiffer as the race goes on.

Is there some way to re-normalize the averages to build in a component of excellence for racing against high-powered competitors?

Well oo this site I simple use there placement at the end of the leg.  With no conversion for the decreasing number of positions on a leg.  Thats why you will notice that a team like Bama's number for the last two episodes (and to the end) will only go down.  Since their average is actually higher then the number of positions left in the race.

At one time I did use a conversion for number of legs so that each leg.  Where it converted all the positions of a leg between 1 (being first place and last being 10th).

So if you were 12th place like Bilal and Saeed in leg one you got a 10, Vipol and Arti would get about a 9.3.

While as an example the teams int he final three (usually two episodes) would be a 1 for theteam checking in 1st, a 5 for the team checking in 2cd and a 10 for the team checking in 3.

I stoppped that since people 1 found it harder to follow, and that people really disagreed with teams who managed to be around through good portions of the race could still recieve the same score as the team that was first out.

As for your idea of giving a formula to reflect difficult of tasks amoung body types, I would have never thought about that.  But the nly problem I see with that is I would also have to figure out one for navigation (and unlike tasks where we see a god portion of tasks being done, we only get a small fraction of scees showing driving, I would also need skill sets.  For example in the  climbing of the Great Wall, the Archery and the rowing.  If you have the skill sets necessary those aren't difficult tasks.

For example I am a skinny weak white guy, but I actually a descent Archer, even have hunted with Bow and Arrow before.  In the wall and the rowing almost everyone did it wrong making hte task a lot more physically tough.  For the wall two of the fastestover were the Cheer leaders, who did it properly.  Hardly teh strongest team.

Then you also have to do puzzle skills, how do I figure that.  Or the ability to follow the clues (eric and Jeremy easily not the sharpest team ever was exceptionlly good at following the clues instructions.

Teams have said that Tyler & James are the brightest, yet they have been good with putting puzzles together, following patterns, best ways to get verbal clues to cab drivers.

So on that, I don't honestly think anything I could come up with would actually come close in representing the facts.  There's just to many variables.

Now that we know that the Cho's are eliminated EP10, that should clear up the stories of the Paris pictures being fake  ;D
Unless some still beieve that the Blondes are running the race by themselves and Tyler/James , Rob/Kim, and the Bama's are all decoys

 Oh I can hear it already! " Maybe the BQ's are SO far ahead of the other teams in the finale..we just don't see them and the guy who took the pictures missed them?" or " Maybe the twist is they bring back the 3 last eliminated teams? Kentucky/Cho's/ BQ's to race to the finish and in a surprise twist Rob/Kim , Bama's and Tyler/James are eliminated?"

I would actually love that twist!!  :hearts:

Certainly would be better than my fear that by some fluke the Bama's win!  :'(

I've loved this season but I will NOT be happy if they win! They lost my support when they were glad to see that Dustin got hurt and needed stitches...and they sure haven't made me change my mind since!

In terms of the sightings, it's amazing that this all happened, but I guess even the best of the best can only do so much to prevent things from leaking out.

Personally, I'm shocked that all of these spoilers have been leaked, but the only thing that hasn't been leaked are the winners.  You'd think that we'd know who won one way or another, because in TAR's 7 and FE, the spoilers were off in the final couple legs at least, but around the first airing of those seasons, (after EP1 for TAR7 and several days before the season premiere of TARFE) the winners were leaked via sportsbook, and both times, it played out.

But yeah, unless it actually happens, there very little to no chance that the BQs will be in the F3, but what would be a nice consolation is to see Bama get Philiminated anyway as a new twist, making it a F2 dash for 1M.  Of course, that's moot when Phil says to the first team to arrive on Dec 3 that they are one of three teams racing for a million.

Sucks for the Chos, but that's that.  I really would've like the original F3 of T/J, E/G, and D/K to play out, since the Paris sightings of the F3 teams weren't all the same (I have to check one more time).  As for Bama, while they haven't done well, at least they haven't come in last on a NEL, which means if they can't win Leg 11 (or 12), I really pray that they do anything else other than to come in last place on Leg 11.

Here's the final twist of a twisted series:

Bama arrives first at the final mat, but don't celebrate just yet.  They broke the rules at JFK and took an unauthorized taxi into town.  So when they arrive at the mat, Phil informs them of the violation and they are penalized 30 minutes and must stand aside and wait.

Now we's all got justice at last!  The models come racing up just ahead of R/K and arrive at the mat, but spot bama waiting on the side and believe "sucks we are second", but go into a fit of joy when Phil tells them that they are first, and R/K come and second, and bama comes in where they belong -THIRD!

Now I would call that real justice and a real twist!

Yeah I would love that after recovering form my initial heart attack when seeing Bama at the matt first.

Sorry I just cannot express how mad I will be if Bama wins, unless starting next week the run a perfect race to the end, then I might, might be able to deal.

After all in season three if anyone even suggested that Teri & Ian would make final three, I would laughed, and laughed and laughed.

But in the last 4 episodes they actually did really well, and by the end I actually wouldn't hate them if they won.

I would hate Bama even if they won every remaining leg. They are hypocrites. I hate hypocrites. I especially hate entitled, sour hypocrites. Those are the worst. And they are such downers. I can't recall another team being so depressing. It's like a blanket over everything they say and do.

Man, I would hate if they edge out T&J, who actually seem to be enjoying themselves, or R&K, who might be crazy but has grown considerably since the beginning and wouldn't be totally undeserving.

I can sense that the final is gonna kill me just because I so desperately want his season to rock from start to finish. Which means it won't.

I may have said this somewhere else...don't remember.  But here goes:

In my mind, the Cho's deserve to be eliminated.  This is a race for a million dollars and they have been WAAAAY too nice.  Waiting for others, etc.  It just boggles my mind.  Why go on the race to begin with?   ???

Sure, it's good to be nice to others, to get along.  BUT it's another thing to let others get ahead of you on purpose.  That's JMHO

Puddin, I think people are afraid of the possability.  On a regular leg, teams often get a chance to really build ups ome distance between other teams.

On teh final leg (unless you make a substaial mistake or something unexpected comes up) teams are usually equalized several times, including very late in the episode.  Thus giving an below average team an actually better chance of winning that leg then otehr ones.

Add to the fact that the best team almost never wins.  Just once so far in regular seasons has the best team actually won (s4 Reichen & Chip).  So thats a littleb it of a curse to the team with the best record.  And no matter what Bama can not get the best record or even 2cd best record for this season.

So while I hope Tyler & James win, I can live with Rob & Kimberly (which actually fits the statistical average better of what type of record the team that wins has).

And unforunately so far this is one area where we don't have much in the way of solid spoilers.
